The more you keep people from looking at something, the more resourceful they become to see it. Just watch, Anonymous or some group of hackers will render the filter completely ineffective.

Is Australia really run entirely by old, willfully-ignorant Fascists? Because it really sounds that way.
To answer your question, somply take a look at our Game rating policies. :/

i doubt many people will be for this as it does mess with peoples privacy and certain laws in regards to that. As many people get angry at security cameras in some places you'd hate to think what people do about this type of censorship. There are also a lot of problems with it many being a possibility that it can block many other things not just 'porn'.

That being 'violence' in some ways, gaming is a possibility and connections to other countries. Anyway even though alot of internet browsers in Aus are censoring their internet there are some that aren't iinet for example.

Well this is it guys, Next month my internet is going to be Censored, Slowed down %80 and won't stop any sick pedophiles from accessing child porn.
The worst thing I think about it is that Julia Gillard and Conroy reckon that if I don't support the filter, I'm a Pedophile.
What do you think about Internet Censorship?
EDIT: Here's some info on what the filter will do.
http://nocleanfeed.com/
Labour have no power to introduce the clean feed, they are in minority governments and every single independant, coalition member as well as the member for the greens flat out oppose it (not to mention labour MPs who are willing to go against party policy). There's no way the cleanfeed is happening anytime soon

Except that with the Libs and the Greens against it, it hasn't been put through government.
also it was decided that a senate review would be taken of the RC list before any legislation would regarding the proposed filter be introduced and that won't be finished until roughly july next year

thats kinda stupid if they are going to block a certian set of sites new onse will arise or pedophilies would learn how to bypass the block (like with China that probaly house the best hackers in the world)

According to the OP's link, the list of blocked sites is secret. That's a pretty major red flag right there...
Thats true, there's no way to know whats on that list and the government wants to keep it that way wikileakslol

Yeah, the clean feed isnt going to happen, and if it does, who cares? Its not like its hard or illegal to bypass it.

Yeah, politics wise, there is almost no way this is getting through and being passed, since no one else will agree to this.

Still, this is a demonstration of the insanity that Julia Gillard obviously has.

Bad move Julia, bad move.

Welp, at least I can hold my head up high and say, 'Heh, I couldn't vote, so I am not responsible for anything that's happening here'

And then feel like a really smug bastard.

Is this just a DNS level block like we have in Denmark for a few certain sites? If it is just use Googles Domain Name Server instead.

Primary: 8.8.8.8
Secondary: 8.8.4.4

That's what I use with the excuse that they are faster than my ISPs DNS. OpenDNS is pretty good as well but you kinda have to set it up to work normally for it to not take you to the OpenDNS site if you mistype something and it's a lot easier to remember.

What the hell? you mean the internet's going to be far slower for a cause that will be easily broken/bypassed in about 10 minutes?

Yes and no. What makes it so effective is that there are a large number of ignorant (NOT stupid people) who have no ambition to search for certain things because they do not know it is there or have be misled into believing it is something else. On the other hand for a large, possibly even believably the majority, they have found ways to dodge or outright circumvent these restrictions and as a result are not inhibited by a multimillion dollar censorship strategy. If only there was a way to do the same thing with that crap they call papers and the news. Information should be as free as air.

I am rather general in my words since I am no expert and wish not to appear to know more than I do.

I have to agree with my informed Australians and say that it sounds like somebody was late to the party.

I distinctly remember taking in the relevant information, signing petitions, firing off emails and eagerly awaiting the day the issue was open to the public forum. At which point I visited the government website, downloaded my .pdf, filled out the forms and sent it back to them. Did the same for the 18+. This was almost a year ago...
It was an interesting time, I was so glad to see people of all ages and backgrounds coming together to reach our goals.
Also I distinctly recall THERE WAS A LIST
I actually think it was a wiki entry and there were a few random harmless sites included, but 80% slower? Off the top of my head that just isn't the correct figure.
(I may dig up the resources if anyone's interested but you'll likely find the same yourself)

Oh and the sheer satisfaction of reading the paper at work post-election and seeing the article on Atkinson's resignation. Priceless.

When these things do pop up be sure to take the right avenues and make your voice count

Next month? Seriously OP where's your source?
