in all honesty, I couldn't give a flying fuck what colour someones skin happens to be. If I liked their personality, they could be any colour at all. I wouldn't notice. & people who get all childish and "eww inter-racial relationships are wrongggg" tend to get a swift punch to the face and told to grow the fuck up. It's the 21st century. All this "non-whites are below us" pish should have stopped around the time slavery was abolished. But the occasional bright spark thinks they're bloody clever by having a controversial opinion. Unironically, they tend to have a controversial opinion on everything else too. They're almost always shit-stirrers 'cause they've got nothing much else to do with their life other than cause arguments over who somebody chooses to be with.

& anybody older than 16/17 that has an opinion like that really needs a kick in the face because if 14 & 15 year olds can be mature about this, someone twice their age should be too. Teenagers these days are made out to be full of hate and whatnot and I suppose we are, but I can't believe someone would dare say that when teenagers are more accepting of things like inter-racial relationships than their parents are.

To be honest....

Look, on a purely intellectual level, I'm okay with interracial relationships, even though I'm white and dating a fellow white girl.

My sister, however, is dating a black guy, and on a extremely irrational, psychopathic, in-the-blood level, I am not cool with it. Not merely because he is black, but because he is African, and, believe me, the difference between a black person, and an African black, is massive.

I don't inherently believe it's a racial thing, more a matter of the fact that the cultural differences between European culture, and one which often still condones rape and polygamy and so forth, are massive. I also have a pathological dislike for African culture, which may also make me a bit of a racist, though I prefer to think of this as 'familiarity breeds contempt' (And believe me, there is a lot to be contemptuous about).

Then again, the fact he's dating my sister is probably them main thing. Considering some of my best friends were black, and I've been extremely attracted to black women before...yes. It's that fact. On the plus side, I've got what basically amounts to a hit-squad of people where he lives, so if he hurts my sister.....lets just say he is not going to be walking by the end of it.

Im caucasian and im not technically "racist", but in my country the only black people you find here are the illegal immigrants, who cause a ton of crime and expect us to be kind and loving to them. Seeing a Maltese man or woman dating them, disgusts me. In my mind it tells me that they have no respect for the pure ethnic Maltese who for hundreds of years have fought to make life better for each and every citizen. Seeing that they are encouraging these immigrants to stay makes me lose hope for my country.

Ah, but this is what I'm trying to say. Race as a term is meaningless, it's simply trying to describe what Ethnicity is.

Race was introduced as a means of classification for the different 'breeds' of human. It used things like facial profile, height, and skin colour to organise humans into separate groups. That's exactly what Ethnicity does. The difference is that when race was introduced the means classification also included things like morality, intelligence, and superiority.

Race was a comparison thus wise:-
Prominent facial features;
Skin colour,
Intelligence,
Morality, and
Superiority
all measured relative to the locations where the groups were found.
That may have been the case hunderds of years ago, but nowadays i feel that race, in itself as a technicality, only serves as an identifier for prominant facial features and skin colour. Intelligence, morality and superiority are removed from the equation. Of course, it entails a number of social prejudices and sterotypes. But so does gender and nationality coming to think of it.

Ethnicity is based on genetic information measured relatively to location. They serve exactly the same purpose but do it in a different way. Furthermore, one has been abandoned by modern science and the other actually forms a part of our current system of genetic listings.
Wordnetweb defines ethnicity as- an ethnic quality or affiliation resulting from racial or cultural ties; "ethnicity has a strong influence on community status relations
Wikipedia defines it as An ethnic group is a group of human beings whose members identify with each other, through a common heritage that is real or presumed

I would think that in practical, down to earth terms, common physical features like skin colour are taken as common identifies along with language, cultural practises and ethical beliefs. Hence why ethnic biology is seen to mix with social practise. Considering how social historical as well as geographical factors have influensed human reprouductive habits, i don't think that ethnic groups can be based on genetic infomation alone. Genetic infomation alone would suggest that there is a ethnic difference between people from north east England (who tend to posses Scandinavian genes) and southern England (Anglo-Saxon genes). However, i don't think there are sufficent differences to call people from Northumbiria and Yorkshire as a seperate ethnic group to people from Kent and Sussex.

To be honest, this forum is evidence of that...

My step dad is black my mum is white. He used to teach quantum physics & mathmatics and is the most calm, well spoken people i know.
I was brought up by his family who are all black, my first 3 boyfriends were black...So i have absolutely no problem with inter racial relations. I wouldnt change my family or my history with them for anything.
However saying that I know many neo-nazi's because of the crowd i hang out with (the black metal scene) and i pity them...They do not think for themselves and are very narrow minded.

I hate to make generalizations, but I somehow knew you'd be from Ohio or thereabouts before I checked your profile. I think those attitudes aren't too prevalent in most other places.

Personally, I think love is love and skin-colour is about the least important factor in that.

I think it's perfectly fine. I can also find any girl from any race attractive - I'm perfectly game. Bt any chance are you in a fairly right wing area of the US? Parent's opinions may be rubbing off on your friends, I guess :/

As a mixed race male it would be very hypocritical for me to have any ill feelings between people of different races dating.

I have no problem with mixed race relationships, should I? If I did have a problem noone would care, I'm not involved and I would have no right to give shit to anyone who is in one.

I'm goin' out with a Maori chick.

Got no problems if you're white, black, Asian, Mexican, Canadian, Alaskan or any other kind of minority.

Personally I wouldn't date a black girl, but if someone else were too I wouldn't have a problem with it.

If you love someone then you should be with them regardless of race, religion, colour, or whatever. I have plenty of friends who are mixed race. I myself am half Serbian and half English (admittedly I have nothing to do at all with my Serbian roots apart from my name). Fair enough, my Serbian family are still white, like my English family. But they're still different countries with different customs and so on... As I say, it shouldn't matter one bit.

I don't like the word much either, but being one of the first posts, I wasn't sure whether I'd be attacked for being politically incorrect or not.
