So with E3 and all its recent pizazz the horror that is Project Natal is approaching like a big flamboyant ocean liner. Microsoft claims they will not poo all over the more serious Xbox crowd but I'm hesitant to believe them. I personally would not play a motion control game unless it was Wii tennis at a party and I was getting tanked, or a similar situation. I'm personally forming all sorts or tinfoil hat theories in my head and flat out want this thing to go away. Anyways, discuss! Huzzah!

It looks even more gimmicky than the Wii.

Microsoft and sony don't realise it, but motion control is not the thing that made the Wii sell. It's the the. When you buy one, you buy an experience, "The" Wii. You buy "a" PS3, a game system.

It's viewed as a causual game system, and it is, but most people that buy it buy it because in the commericials, everyone is so damn happy. That's another thing. Everyone. The 360 goes on about graphics, physics, character models and textures. Grandma doesn't understand that, she understands fun and the people in the Wii commercials are having fun, goddamn it! People in commericials for everything else are not real people, but game characters, and they're DYING.

Just my two cents. Natal=gimmick that will sell horribly. Move=Gimmick that will sell equally horribly, but will possilbly have a cult following or fanboys of some kind. I can see that happening for some reason.

I like the idea of it, I think it has potential. Even if it does fall flat I doubt it will cause any harm. So I'm all for it. I just hope they have some better ideas for future games that they have for their current line up. The odd gimmicky dance, fitness, sport and party game's are to be expected and I'll probably pick them up... However the line up at the moment shows almost three of every type... Which I'm not happy about. Make some good games for it and make good use of the potential. The Wii was okay when the games made a good use for it other than dancing or making ham burgers.

What I don't understand is the whole "Going to ruin the 360" statements or "Microsoft turning it's back on the hardcore" I don't see how this is so. I mean just because Microsoft have created an hyper advanced eye toy doesn't mean they are going to stop making games your all enjoying. Though to be honest I don't understand what "Hardcore" is any more... Just comes off like elitist fanboy/girl spew for any product they don't seem to like or if the product becomes popular. COD 4.2 isn't hardcore apparently, neither is GTA 4 or Gears of War to some people... Which again begs the question... what is Hardcore?. Does the game get a down grade once it becomes popular or successful?... Maybe it's genre based and any shooter without great emphasis on RPG game play isn't hardcore... Though it can't be that because Bioshock got that treatment from some. Totally baffles me.

Anyway I don't see the harm in Microsoft trying to create a piece of technology that does what the Eyetoy should have done. Either it will completely fail... bring a few dance games out before disappearing into the night... That or it will be successful and completely revolutionise the future of gaming... I don't know yet... it's far too early to judge, I'm just looking at it with cautious (but curious) optimism.

With the right gear it could be something amazing.

But as it stands... I laugh so hard that I cry. However, it won't make a difference... not really.

I'm still suprised that MS took it so far, the only games that it could be used for are casual games, and for more serious games you'd just be doing small hand gestures while holding a controller.

Ehhh, it COULD be pretty good. But take that with all the salt in the world. Even though Sony did it first with the Eyetoy...

The only thing that's NEW is the microphone, and using a mic to control gameplay isn't anything new, even on the console. There was this Gamecube game (Odama I think) that was a pinball game but with a twist, you had to ge this bell up to the top of the board and there were enemy soldiers trying to stop it, but you could command your own soldiers with the packaged mic. Or you could just crush them with your PINBALL OF MANLY DOOM.

Even though the xbox and PS3 have proved their superiority in every aspect, the wii will still sell shitloads more. Makes me so angry that nintendo can makes billions of dollars by exploiting people who don't know jack about videogames, and are happy to constantly buy shovelware without having a clue about the actual quality of the game.
Little misplaced hatred there bud. The games of which your more than likely referring to (The dance, party and frying pan games) are made by third party developers and not by Nintendo them selves, so Nintendo aren't exploiting anyone. I don't see how anyone is being exploited either, fellow see's a game about frying pans and thinks "I want to play that" so he goes home and plays a game about frying pans... I don't understand how he's being exploited. Also as for quality, that's all opinion based, to us that may be a one star game... To him that may be a high quality game, there's no right and wrong here.

The Kinect is a neat piece of tech, that has a ton of potential for the development of user interfaces in future computer systems. Emotive, simulated intelligent, responsive operating systems that can see and react to your expressions, vocal tones, voice and gesture commands; the whole bit.

It is a tangible step towards a minroity report/star trek style computer interface system, and a very real piece of technology along the path to a holodeck.

I have no desire to play videogames with it.

I'm really not looking forward to the years of Shovelware and Crap we'll have to get through to make the product actually useful. Similarly I don't see how much more than Glorified Rail Shooters can be accomplished with Kinect all on its lonesome.

This is the internet. In the internet if you don't like something it is a scam, harmful to everyone even remotely close to it, and should burn with fire. Anyone who should dare play something a person on the internet doesn't like automatically makes them misinformed retards who know nothing. Which often makes me question how these people are able to go into a store and not freak right out. I mean an average store must have tons of stuff on the shelves that these same people don't like. Thier heads must explode.

God forbid they open thier minds for just a second to see the potential.

It's called Kinect now. Not that it makes a difference.

I think it could be neat as long as they don't make it a mandatory part of games. If it has a nice side-catalog of games and it sticks to doing its own thing while the 360 controller sticks to do ITS thing, then I think it'll be just fine. People are really taking this crap way too seriously.

If the rumors reported by The Escapist are true, that it costs $150, then it's going to flop, and it'll fade into the background just like that shitty eyetoy thing did on the PS2. I wouldn't worry too much if I were you.

As long devs don't try to add it to EVERY game, then I won't mind. If they keep the gimmick with the gimmick games and stay out of games I like, then I don't really care.

There are some amazing ways it could be implemented into hardcore games, if they decide to take the risk.

But we know they won't. So I don't think it's worth looking into.

Microsoft want some of that Wii action, let 'em try.
I hate the Wii and I'll probably not like this much more.
