It doesn't bother me - most of the time. Especially in a military type game (which, you're usually camping a spot to kill someone) - obviously, you would be an idiot to go running around and not laying still for a bit to gather intel and hope for an ambush on your enemy. It seems like gamers are quick to cry camping if you sit still for 10 seconds.

If the camper doesn't move after a kill, they have given away their position and are now open to an ambush on their spot. So it doesn't always pay to just sit still and camp a spot.

The camping that is annoying (to me) is when you're playing something like Counter-Strike where you sit out the round after you die. When you have to watch an idiot teammate sit there and camp (and the last enemy might be doing the same thing), it's frustrating to watch that go on for a few minutes. Just get on with the hunt and let everyone join back in, you know?

The only time it bothers me is when the enemy camps near your spawn.

Otherwise I think it can be a smart strategy. Depending on the situation of course.

A legitimate strategy that people seem to complain too much about. Personally, Ican't stand doing it, as it takes all the fun out of an action-shooter.

On a well designed map it is a legitimate strategy. Because it is a strategy, and takes skill. On crappy maps - no, it sucks.

I honestly find no harm in camping, it's a reasonable strategy.
Picture this, you're actually in that situation except you do not respawn, what would you do?
Guns a' blazing or Camp it out and slowly move towards your target?

I'm voting yes. Although it can be fucking annoying, it is strategical and just because a lot of over-enthusiastic FPS players are impatient and can't be assed to do it themselves, doesn't mean anyone who has the patience is being unfair.

Also what the crums are snipers meant to do if camping isn't allowed?

EDIT: It sounds like nobody has ever played a BF game before.

Actually not really, what pisses me off more is tea bagging. It's not seen much in PC games (from my many rounds of TF2) but while playing Halo 3 today some guy on my team kept tea bagging everyone he killed to the point where I went up behind him and killed him just to make him stop.

Camping is a fine strategy as long as you have a long range or extremely short range weapon. In any other it's an extremely pointless strategy.

So, no. I have no issues with camping.

Put some more thought into a thread. You look really stupid making a one line opening post followed by "lol" less than 60 secconds later.

I have no problem with them cautiously looking for the enemy - my problem is when they just sit and wait for the enemy to come to them on a large map. it can take forever and usually the round timer has to run down unless one of the players can find the other.

I didn't even look at who posted that. I just assumed it was someone being a jerk... I wouldn't have posted if I had seen that.

It bothers me. I can see that campers completely play by the rules, but I feel it's overcompetitive. It's like people who refuse to give you credit in Monopoly while taking all they can get for themselves - it's perfectly legitimate, but it's annoying. I'm in it for good clean fun, and that includes not being that guy:

Me: God, come out of your hole, you're annoying me.
That Guy: But it makes me win!
Me: Yeah, but me, I just wanna have fun!
That Guy: Me, too - I'm having fun IF I WIN!

Then again, I have found a way to cope: I make it my primary object not to win, but to make campers and snipers LOSE. Flush them out, snipe them myself, all that stuff, without regard who else I kill. It annoys them to no end, it's just priceless.

They are annoying, but I like dealing with them. There's nowhere completely safe (unless the bastards glitch in which case they shall rot in hell) and it's kinda fun hunting them, avoiding fire and coordinating to finally kill them, it's a good feeling kinda like a boss kill or the first time you used a Lancer against an enemy.

Game maker's fault, not the player's. As I say when friends are accusing me of being "cheap" - the buttons are there for a reason.
