Camping is perfectly fine unless it's on spawn (seem to be more frequent on all FPS's nowadays) campers are easy to take out with a well placed nade or you can always avoid them or better yet do it yourself.
(personally I move between camping spots on the map picking people off as I go)

well.. I totally agree that it is a legitimate strategy on just about every map out there. If there are walls and obstructions on a map, rest assured that there will be someone camping sooner or later. Hell, I do it from time to time, especially where I'm out numbered (and out skilled). BUT... then again... I played on some games in COD:WAW where over half the opposing teams were camping (yes, most of them were clans) and they were absolutely covering the entire map. There was just no way to get to them --- Moving towards any part of the map meant instant death, and others tried to counter snipe, maybe get one or two of them before he's taken out. So our entire team basically just stayed in one part of the map and waited it out, and NOBODY MOVED -- it's pretty hilarious when it happens, but pretty lame when I think about it now *cry*.
Anyways, I guess camping is okay as long as its not spawn and the whole team is not doing it...

I accept it and encourage it. Real snipers don't dance about and jump into the air while shooting people from 25 feet away. Like everyone else, though, I believe spawn camping is a noob move. Camping isn't very hard to counter either, it just involves figuring out which direction the guy is firing from, cloaking/taking an alternate route/running and jumping/whatever to get over to him, and kick his ass quickly. People complain about it but it makes perfect sense.

With the exception of Spawn Camping, yes, camping is fine. Especially in Objective-based games. Even in CoD deathmatch, a Sniper is quite flankable. Camper getting you down? Stab him in the back and see if he still laughs. I once teabagged a guy while he was still alive and prone, then he tried to get up and got cut.

It's really sad that nobody actually considers camping in real life, ie getting a tent and getting your dinner with a bunch of traps, which I'm quite fond of, and immediately think of sniping/game camping, which is fine I guess.

I should also point out that camping is fond in military games. Camping is a real life tactic called "Ambushing".

Camping irritates me because I suck at video games that are not combat arms
So I don't care, if I run-n-gun I'll die, if I camp I'll die.

If you do one most of the time you probably are bad at the other.
If you can do both you truly have a special skill that allows you to switch between the two and win any battle.

I think if campings a problem then it's a problem with the game it's self, the tactic of sitting still and waiting should not destroy game flow and balance. In most games giving a few seconds of invincibility is fine for that.

There's plenty of normal situations that arise where it makes sense to not move around alot, CTF and King of the hill for one, also if you were in a base and three guys were coming at you it might make sense to just stay on top of the base and kill them there.

He's actually half and half. he's ""Mentally impaired" or some bullshit, but he takes refuge in that and chooses to stay ignorant
