In all seriousness, I totally agree. He was designed for people who naturally want to camp and gave them legitimate reasons to do so.

In large, team based battles, camping is fine - some classes (snipes, duh) need to camp and in that case, it's part of the strategy and it's fine.

Camping isn't even all that annoying - sure there's that moment of brief fustration when you die because a sniper you couldn't see or anticipate kills you in one shot - but if that sniper doesn't move, all you have to do is lob some grenades or get a sniper rifle of your own and kill him/her. The people who get annoyed at snipers are the same ones who rush into the same open field with a shot gun and expect not to die! If there's a sniper, CHANGE YOUR TACTICS TO DEAL WITH IT, instead of sitting down complaining "teh campurrs r teh noobz, duhh, duhhh, duhhh, y kant I kil u wit teh shutgon?" It's really funny when players get killed by the same sniper 10 times in a row, because they keep on doing the same thing again and again, expecting different results.

In most modern games, there are ways of defeating campers easily, if you play a bit differently. For example, in Team Fortress 2, if there's a sniper that's bothering you, another sniper on your team could take care of it, or you can spam rockets in their direction to force them to move, or you could lob grenades, or find an alternative path behind them and roast him/her with the flamethrower, or cloak and stab em in the back with a butterfly knife. In COD4 games, there are grenades, and plenty of cover to hide from snipers as you move closer to them.

Camping appeals to a certain type of player. Not me, but others love it. It's a legitimate tactic, especially in games with SNIPER RIFLES! You know, for sniping? If the developers didn't want you to camp, they wouldn't have put the damn things there in the first place.

Now spawn-kill-camping..... that's a whole different matter.

Yes, I'm only bothered by spawn camping. Camping is a legitimate strategy, spawn camping is just cheap.

some ppl have english as their second language, and they shouldnt be prevented from talking about the things they like in forums because of this.

The Escapist used to be rather strict on things like this, what happened?

Campers bother me all right, but I make it my personal mission to get them when I respawn, and everytime they go back up there.

It depends on the speed of the game really, something like BF2 for instance Camping can be a very useful way to defend certain points or for sniping.
However if you try something like camping on UT3 you're going to get your arse kicked very quickly and over and over again.

Could always apply it to a more real world example or in games that you don't respawn, camping can keep you in the game for longer but its a hell of a lot more fun to push forward in games like Paint-Balling.

So, is english not your primary language?

camping with a long range weapon like a sniper rifle is much more problematic simply for the fact that you cant close the gap, leaving the camper at a runaway advantage

It only bothers me when everybody playing the game is camping and I am the only one running around and the only person that has a death on their record.

In the "Meet the Engie" video Valve put out for TF2, he's clearly fucking camping. That's all I have to offer to the discussion.
Possibly to represent what most engie's do in game - hide behind their turrets :p

Joking, Joking, sniping would be so little fun without 1 shotting basic turrets :D
That's it. I'm sending a battle engie after you.

On the contrary, I think that effective sniping takes alot of skill and talent. Any dumbass can choose a sniper class, but it takes a certain type of person to find the best spots and pick off targets while remaining hidden.

Use the search bar. This is even funnier to me than it is usually, because I started a thread about this very subject. And you know what? Someone told me to use the search bar.

Full Circle man.
