Put it this way: If real soldiers in a real war were waiting for the enemy, to kill them would they be deemed campers. Well, no because the enemy would be dead!

I can't do it myself because I get bored if I'm not moving for more than 3 seconds but it doesn't really bother me. I like being killed by campers then tossing a grenade at their special spot from 100 yards away and watching them kaboom. Unless I'm playing CS instead of CoD4, then I memorize their spot and shoot them through walls which is always fulfilling.

On a properly made map, camping is fine. It is a very effective strategy to mix in with other types (switch from guns a blazin' to camping). However, exclusivly camping takes a lot of the fun out of most action FPS's.

It's ok s' long as people know where the camper is and can find the bastard, it's not fair if it's all you do and are never killed, besides where's the fun in it?

only sniper's should be allowed to camp
That, my friend, would be called sniping, not camping.
Camping is best done with a sniper coz that's the kind that, sort of, invented camping and camping was invented for snipers

Camping is fine in certain situations, I remember I did a whole definition and stuff about Camping, Sniping, Defending, Outsource Defending, etc... I'd probably look for it now, but I'm lazy.

In certain game modes, Hardcore in Call of Duty for instance, camping is essential because you are weak and have no idea where the enemy is.

But if you're playing Unreal Tournament and (pardon my lack of knowledge in the game) have the power armor, rocket launcher with unlimited ammo, and invulnerability for 30 seconds or something, then what the hell are you doing sitting on your ass in the corridor for? Go kick some damn ass, nobody is going to stop you!

Spawn Camping I think is a no no. ESPECIALLY if someone is glitching (AKA: Glitch Camping), that's a BIG no no.

I don't really care as long as they don't camp in my spawn, i only camp when i'm a sniper.
good, that's the way it should always be
It was the base idea until some idiot had the bright thought "Hey lets snipe right here..with an automatic rifle that can shoot 300 rounds per minute!"

It bothers me. I can see that campers completely play by the rules, but I feel it's overcompetitive. It's like people who refuse to give you credit in Monopoly while taking all they can get for themselves - it's perfectly legitimate, but it's annoying. I'm in it for good clean fun, and that includes not being that guy:

Me: God, come out of your hole, you're annoying me.
That Guy: But it makes me win!
Me: Yeah, but me, I just wanna have fun!
That Guy: Me, too - I'm having fun IF I WIN!

Then again, I have found a way to cope: I make it my primary object not to win, but to make campers and snipers LOSE. Flush them out, snipe them myself, all that stuff, without regard who else I kill. It annoys them to no end, it's just priceless.
So essentially if one person annoys you, you dedicate the rest of the match to annoying them.

Sounds like a winning strategy to ensure maximum fun there, champ.

Depends on the game. In CoD, campers bother me a hell of a lot less than jump-killers.

Camping isn't 'cheap'. It's called tactics, and it exists with a REASON.

In real life war, what would you do? Would you just walk around, thinking: 'I'll give every person that's in the way a bullet in his head'? Or would you shoot enemies from a safe location so you wouldn't get shot? A FPS is a war simulation... so why would real life tactics not apply to the simulation?

What's not acceptable is not defending your supply lines - including (especially) your supply of respawned units.

well, good recipes against campers are:

1. watching corners, dark spaces, etc.
2. grenades
3. knowing camping spots
so
for me , if i follow these rules, campers aren't that big of a problem. so let the campers camp... their fault , if thy are blown, cut, shot, whatever into pieces

ps:

camping is actually done in real world warfare, so its a legitimate strategy, at least in games like call of duty. the problem is that it makes games become boring when you are the camper, because if you choose an obvious spot then someones gonna knife you in the back and if you choose a less obvious spot then you will have to do a lot of waiting.
