Put some more thought into a thread. You look really stupid making a one line opening post followed by "lol" less than 60 secconds later.
Seconded. Although I think he lol'd because this is a blatant copycat thread.

On topic though, one of my worst gaming memories is of playing BF1942 on the Kursk map. The Germans initial spawn point was inside a big red barn. In almost every game, someone would burn over in a jeep or plane and stand at the door to that barn, machine gunning people as they spawned.

Lame. Really lame.

Camping is okay for snipers but IMHO campers are grenade bait.

I must be the worst person in the shooting game world, but I don't really care who Ive killed, or how many times Ive killed them. My main objective is to die as few times as possible, while maintaining a high kill to death rate. Killing a pile of people is meaningless when you died nearly an equal number of times or worse. Honestly, all I'm doing is standing behind a corner, same as you, only I am more patient. If what I'm doing is so wrong, come get me.

You've also gotta take into account games that actually require you to camp for a little bit i.e. the battlefield franchise where if you want to defencd a capture point you have to sit on it for a little bit, of course you lsoe if you only sit on one point but if theres a heavy attack on it and its the one tipping the balance then it can be fun to have a pitched battle that way.

Damn confusing question. I voted no...

I meant to vote yes, because there's always something to counter a camper.

d) doesn't matter if you camp or not - FPSs are for peanut-heads
I like peanuts XD I dont mind being a peanut head (even though your where obviously being a bit of a troll XD)

When im playing in a public game just for some fun, yeah it can be a liitle annoying, but in the end, it is apart of the game and the more you play it you learn to look for those spots and find ways to counter them (most fps war type games have flashes, nades and smoke, or in TF2 spys). When playing seriously for a clan in a war or whatever, camping is a little bit of a must, holding positions, key points etc.

so really I put down I dont care, because it is how someone likes to play, we all play differnt.

Camping is only ok when it's in certain situations.
If you're a sniper, then it's fine. Nobody expects you to run out and use your single shot weapon like an assualt rifle.
If you're defending an objective, once again, it's fine. You're supposed to stay there and defend it, that's your objective.
If you're outnumbered, camping is fine. On more than one occasion while playing COD4, I've been alone against 2 or 3 enemies, sometimes more on a certain part of the map all coming from the same direction. I can't be expected to run out and engage them, so I get into a stategic position, take them out and move on.
And finally, camping behind cover for a few seconds to get your barings or take out an enemy is fine.

The camping that does nothing but piss me off is when a guy is in a darkened corner watching an area with alot of traffic with a heavy machine gun, usually in prone. On COD4 add juggernaut and last stand to the equation. It's alot more common than you'd think. There's no excuse for this shit. I don't care if you wouldn't run out in real life because this isn't real life. I don't care that you want to preserve your K/D ratio, because it doesn't matter, it's just some numbers that have no real meaning to them. Frankly, if you care that much about your K/D ratio that you have to camp and probably bore yourself half to death, then you should be doing something else because you're doing nothing but ruining the experience of the game not only for yourself, but for everyone else in your game.

Camping is awesome, happens in real life so why not in a game? The only time it bothers me is when some clever players discover spots in the middle of the wall or some other impossible place.

Campers: do you really need to play a FPS? Or will a hunting simulation do? If your camping to maximise kills, go play a sim. If your camping to minimise deaths, GO FOR A RUN YOU SOFTY! Snipers are the worst. If you pride yourself on having a Golden Light Fifty in CoD4, you are the worst type of person to play with: un-fun. I play for fun. I'd like to think everyone else does too. Campers rob people of fun. Wanna shoot targets all day long? Fine by me: just don't use me as rifle practice becouse you're too selfish to play a game that will satisfy your needs.

If an FPS is well made then camping shouldn't be an issue. A skilled player will always be able to flush out a camper.

i think camping is a legitimate tactic in certain situations. for example camping with a sniper rifle is fine. but camping with a shotgun surrounded by claymore is a bit lame. and SPAWN CAMPING is a total no no. normally i find camping boring anyway. i would much rather hunt my prey down rather that sit and wait hoping they come to me ;)

Well most good shooters, makes it hard to get more than one kile at each spot. A little generalised thing to say, but mostly i think it fits.

I'm fine with it, to an extent. Yes some people are too quick to cry 'camper' these days.
But when it gets a bit extreme, it just becomes irritating.

This has already been mentioned, so I'll keep it short: Camping is fine, Spawn Camping is being an asshole.

Its not camping - its tactical sitting...I love camping...I also love counter camping...sneaking up on that numpty with a semi-auto sniper only watching one spot and then throwing a nade at his head...or working out of his angle of fire and counter sniping.

If camping and the bombs dropped/planted/people have moved up etc i'll ditch a spot and get to a better place to support...

Does my head in when I'll be holding a flank from a bunch of fool's that keep running at me from the same direction - and they got the gall to insult me with various degrees of noob calling...Just cause they can't learn isn't my fault.

Sorry about this voted yes, didn't realize it was about in game camping, I thought it was about camping in real life (which is awesome).
