Seriously, though, that was so stupid he literally deserved it. He rammed the doors, for God's sake.
I lol'd

No, it's not wrong if it was funny. In the case of the video posted by the OP a man was killed by his own stupidity.

I don't think its ALWAYS wrong. I doubt many of us knew him so its hard to identify with this and find a personal connection with the guy so it just looks funny - and stupid, incredibly, incredibly stupid. What was he even doing?

Reminds me of Mel Brooks' quote: Tragedy is when I cut my finger. Comedy is when you walk into an open sewer and die.

Yes, it is ALWAYS wrong to laugh.

That said, who gives a hell? Laugh anyways. Dude falling down an elevator shaft? Even funnier if he's drunk!

Skateboarder catches a high tension wire to the gonads? HILARIOUS.

People gettin' hurt is generally funny. Half the time I get injured, I laugh. Pain is fleeting, glory is eternal, and stupidity is amusing.

EDIT: I just watched the clip. Wasn't so much funny as depressing, though that might be just a factor of the fact that I'm tired as hell.

Well, no, it's not "wrong" to laugh at something like that. Just like it's not "wrong" to cry.

It's just a reaction. What it can be though is rude or inappropriate.

BTW, that isn't falling down, he rammed the door and went down?

Nope. Some guy once blew his face off with a piece of illegal, home-made firework. I freakin' laugh my ass off at moments like that. Damned idiot's own fault.

But even if it would be wrong, I don't care. If someone's got it coming I'll be laughing still.

A good laugh never hurt someone. Of course nowadays the western worlds (especially the westest of the west*coughusacaugh* favourite sport is to tell everyone online that they are oh-so-offended by everything, but damn, who gives a shit?)

The video was funny, but are you sure there wasnt something wrong with the guy? I laughed, and I need clarification for the good of my soul.

We all know of the famous Darwin Awards, and then there's this:

Yeah, that guy died: http://news.asiaone.com/News/Latest%2BNews/Asia/Story/A1Story20101008-241407.html

I guess the question is, considering so many people die every day, is it wrong to laugh if someone dies in a hilarious way?

I'm not trying to troll here, and I want a mature discussion, if this question disgusts you, go somewhere else, because that is not my intention.

Personally I did laugh at the video, I don't really think that's wrong, I don't really subscribe to the notion that once someone has died, nothing bad can be said about them. What that guy did was stupid, really stupid, period.

EDIT: I'm kind of surprised at the overwhelming response of "NO", I mean, that's my opinion, I'm just surprised so many share it.....YAY!
What the fuck is wrong with you people. If you died and some asshole burst out laughing I'm sure your family would be ins stitches. This kind of attitude is how we end up with trolls who mail corpse photos to the parents of children killed in auto accidents. You're sick. I can already tell that's not going to be a popular opinion. But that's my two cents.

I'll make a joke about anything. But not somebody else's death.

Yeah this guy was an idiot. Everyone loses their head at some point. My dad's in a wheelchair and I know just how it feels when some douche sees you coming up to the elevator and presses the "door close" button. And it happens a lot. Just because people don't want to be crampt in the elevator for 30 seconds they stare right at you and push that button. Imagine how it feels for the person in the chair. My dad's disability is the biggest source of frustration and pain in his life. Things like that just throw it right back in his face. Everyone loses their temper sometimes, or makes a dumb mistake then logic goes out the window.

I also think you guys shouldn't laugh because you don't know the circumstances behind why the guy's in a chair in the first place. If he had a stroke and that wound him up in the chair then he might seem fine but have suffered brain damage that makes it hard for him to keep his emotions in check. If you don't believe me well wait till somebody you know gets a stroke then try taking care of them. The doctor will warn you they can't control their emotions anymore. You will not believe the gravity of that warning (no pun intended) until you see it.

Much like a conservative who votes no on stem cell research until somebody they know is staring down Parkinson's or Alzheimer's or a person who thinks they UNDERSTAND what it's like to have children, you'll never really get it till you're there.

I?m not sure it?s ever wrong to laugh, maybe just inappropriate depending on the company at the time. Laughing, making jokes, it can be a coping mechanism.

There is a difference between laughing and mailing pictures of corpses to family members. Laughing is a natural reaction to pain. I laugh when people are beating the crap out of me.

Personally? I hope people laugh at my death if I do something stupid, rather than grieve. I don't want people to feel sad about me leaving.

Yeah. What pain. You guys don't really seem to be sad about it at all. Post edits for your consideration:
