A group of us were talking about this today. The general consensus between us was sure. Why not?

But I was curious what a wider sampling of this question would say. So the Question for the poll is:

Is it considered socially acceptable for a woman to give flowers to a man on Valentines day? Or any other day for that matter.

I don't see why not. A gift is a gift.

Personally though I don't like flowers and wouldn't know what to do if i got em.

If the man likes flowers, yes.
If he doesn't, it's a bad present and thus a bit of a dick move.

I don't care, I would love it if a girl gave me flowers, but knowing the majority of men it would be a slap in the face. Probably countered not with a "aww" or "thats so sweet" but with a grunt "I'm not gay"

I don't see why not. Unless they were like those killer plastic flowers from the old doctor who, back when the writers put some effort- but I digress.

I don't see any reason why anyone couldn't give anyone flowers on Valentine's day or any other.

No. Not at all. An appropriate gift for a man should involve machinery or something related to one of his hobbies. If he has an interest in gardening, he'll grow his own flowers.
And he would punch the flowers IN THE FACEE!!!

Women didn't fight for equality to not be equal. It goes against the effective status quo, but that's a good thing, breaking down prejudices based on gender is a good thing. It may be considered a social oddity by some, but it's completely acceptable.

So basically, yeah, I don't have a problem with it, in fact I encourage it. Maybe not flowers, but I encourage it.

Who cares if it is or not? If you want to do it, then do it. Although I doubt most men would want flowers. Still, it would be a nice gesture.

Perfectly acceptable. No reason it shouldn't be.

Acceptable? Yes.
A waste of time? YES!
Men do not want flowers. Besides, men do not care about v-day. V-day is all about the woman. Spoiling her and giving her crap.
Mens version of V-day is March 14th.[footnote]Feel free to look it up online.[/footnote] We just need more women to adhere to the rules and understand if they want their day, we damn well better get ours.
Ah, Steak and a blowjob day. Somehow less known/accepted than Valentine's...

Anyway, don't see why not. The gesture is the important bit, and flowers on 'depression and rage' day are traditional - can't see why it matters who's giving them to who.

Though I despise the whole event, probably due to being the only one of the 4 guys in my house who's single...

I'd appreciate the gesture, but honestly I wouldn't know what to do with flowers. I'd prefer something else, like food, candy, or some other present.

Sure, I'd accept flowers. Its the gesture that counts. I would prefer something else but hey, any gift from your woman is something to appreciate.

[sub]I don't have a vase or something so I guess it would just stay out on my porch until it died.[/sub]

I'd love to get flowers on Valentine's day, it'd be cute. Or just flowers in general. I see nothing wrong with it.

Call me old fashioned, but I'd be incredibly confused if my better half gave me flowers. I have far too much testosterone for that.

I guess it is okay, but what would a guy want flowers for? Bring him bacon. Men like bacon.
