Idk that it should "stay" that way, but flowers are traditionally a gift for women. I would appreciate the sentiment, but I'd much rather give flowers to a woman than receive them. Give me a football... Or a sandwich. HA!!

Of course.

If the dude likes flowers, give him flowers.

I wasn't aware this was a problem?

If the man likes flowers, yes.
If he doesn't, it's a bad present and thus a bit of a dick move.
^das hier.^

All a matter of personal taste. Will he know what to do with the flowers? I certainly wouldn't... but my dad would.
No two human beings, whether male or female, are exactly alike... and gender roles are obsolete.

If that's what a guy likes then why not? I don't see anything wrong with it.

Acceptable? Yes.
A waste of time? YES!
Men do not want flowers. Besides, men do not care about v-day. V-day is all about the woman. Spoiling her and giving her crap.
Mens version of V-day is March 14th.[footnote]Feel free to look it up online.[/footnote] We just need more women to adhere to the rules and understand if they want their day, we damn well better get ours.
Isn't that White Day, from Japan?

OT: I don't see why not. But only is he'll actually display them.

The gift means very little....it is the MESSAGE BEHIND THE GIFT that is the real treasure.

I would not want flowers. I had a plant in my apartment for two months and then it died.

I take Demetri Martin's views on giving flowers: it seems like it should be a gesture of threat rather than affection.

"Here. Watch these die."

... "You're next."

Abstaining from voting.

Imagine that instead, you just asked "Is it considered socially acceptable for a woman to give five dollars to a vendor for no particular reason as a gesture of goodwill towards a man?"

I don't think any of the options you give is a suitable answer to my rephrasing of your question.

Personally though I don't like flowers and wouldn't know what to do if i got em.
Right on the money on the first reply.

I don't think being socially acceptable even comes to play with it. Just that most men wouldn't know what to do with the lot. It's like you gave him a dildo.

If the dude likes flowers, go crazy. Otherwise it might be a bit risky.

I think, generally speaking, men don't apreciate flowers like women do. I know I consider flowers a waste of time and money, and if a woman gave me flowers, I'd probably pass them on to my Mom... or someone else who might actually want them.

As many have said...if thats what the guy likes...I suppose its fine, otherwise, no.

Why the hell would you buy me flowers if I didn't want flowers?
