Haven't had any performance problems and I've got some sort of love/hate relationship with the new layout. Part of me likes it, part of me doesn't.

It's taking me a while to get used to as I've been using the old style Steam for years and years but it looks alright and it's a bit more 'stylish'. I haven't noticed any performance issues either.

I had it uninstalled for a while before i switched to the new beta so i wouldn't have known if it was any faster/slower than before. Seems the same really, was slow before and is slow now :p

One problem i have noticed though, the desktop shortcuts don't have icons D:

I've been using the new look since beta, I love it. It's possible your computer just sucks.
Its a proper gameing computer cost £1500 so it isnt bad I guess it just has problems (sigh) Vista.

EIDT: Damn I double posted again sry.
Ooooh, Vista. You have my sympathies. I upgraded to Windows 7 as soon as I could (student discount ftw).
Random and off-topic, but I don't really see any of the problems people had with Vista, mine has been clear and bug-free for close to a year now.

Anyways, I've had my Steam in off-line mode for a while now, so did not know there was an update. When I get the chance to update it, I'll let you know.

I love it, I used it since it was in early beta and haven't looked back, it took about 10 minutes to adjust to the changes in navigation, but I haven't had performance issues or the like. Although I don't like how the new in-game overlay blocks of the bottom half of the screen.

Let's see. It is faster, looks better, more secure with IE stripped out, easier to group games, overlay has been improved...

Pretty sure it's just you.

I haven't used Steam a lot lately. I find myself rarely playing Steam games nowadays, for some reason. Just stick to old 90s Strategies and RPGs... And Warcraft/WoW.

However, based on my one or two glances on the "new steam", I think I'd prefer the old one. I haven't explored any capabilities of the "new steam", but for the sake of previous familiarity and nostalgia, I suppose I prefer old steam... Until I get used to new one.

If you asked me this when the option to first opt into the public beta came about, I'd have agreed with you and yelled my determination to piss all over the base code for it, however, now there's some actual polish to it, it's quite nice, sleek and I've actually noticed a general increase in performance with it.

Eh.

I'm liking it so far but I'm slightly disappointed that they've not added the Wishlist feature I asked Santa for.
But they did...

It's only in the Store (and the community pages)...

runs as good, if not better in windows, and the massive lag the old UI had for me under Wine is gone.

also it looks nice.

It's something I need to get used to a little bit, but so far I like it.

(more off topic) I never had humongous issues, Vista was just slower and annoying. And I hated the way it organized my files - Windows 7 just does everything better.

I've had no problems with it. It runs well, it is more streamlined and user friendly, to me. I prefer it over the old.

The steam UI has fixed 98% of crashes I had with the system before :D.
