Spawn camping is the only form of camping. I hate the fucking idiots who use the term camp wrong.

If you're holding a position at a clutch point; or you're in a great sniping position: You're just in position! The whinefucks can deal with it.
This.

Yeah, but it is a good idea to not make laps around the map like infantry. Ideally a sniper will make much slower laps. But ultimatley you will probably be in the same areas for extended periods of time. Just maybe not behind the same barrel or in the same window.
That pretty much sums it up. You would only do that if you were a bit slow :L

As already said, shoot, move, shoot, move.

Camping is literally sitting in one position and killing people who pass by, and continuing to sit there until you're killed. It can be so frustrating when there's that one player in that one corner for an entire match. Most times I'll end up avoiding that area of the map.

i said no but i meant kinda camping in exactly the same place is a bad idea but to change your position slightly each time is very effective... in games maps are overplayed alot so there are only a few good sniping spots making it hard not to use them for as long as you can...

Pretty much all points have already been made, but yes, it's totally possible. In fact, it's best, since as people already pointed out, moving around makes it harder to pinpoint you.

In Game turns snipers have many tactics. Staying in one well defended spot poping heads of anyone who comes into range is ok but it is easy to twig onto where you are after a while. Having several spots and going from one to the other is another good tactic.
In the real world it is staying where you are waiting for ever taking a shot to cause mose damage then leg it or you will die whether but gun or artilary.

I suppose so, but to get off accurate shots in most games, you have to stay still for at least a small amount of time. I just think people use "camping" as an excuse for why they get shot all the time
Not to mention "camping" now refers to anyone who isn't constantly moving. "What, you took half a second to aim? STOP CAMPING N00B!"

or you could become a "quickscoper", be hated by every right-minded person in the world and turn into the scourge of humanity.
do it on console where there is autoaim then you are considered that. do it on pc then you are considered very skillful

In BF2, i like to find a good sniper spot, seal the entry point off with anti-personell mines and then start sniping/camping.
when ppl try to sneak up and rush me, mines go off, i turn around swtich to silenced pistol.
of my attackers at least one is dead and the others are stunned

With enough nights of turbo gungame mode in CS:S, you will definitely learn to snipe without camping, otherwise you simply never win.

Camping in games really doesn't bother me in games. Because you can easily just completely avoid the place you know where the camper is. The only people (in my book) who really cry about campers are just the people who want you to rush around without being able to check your surroundings so you can get picked off by them. Seriously, I don't think I've ever seen anyone in MW2 or any other game get a huge kill streak without using a bit of camping. It is a legit strategy and a rather smart one.
But I really don't think you can be that great of a sniper without at least a little bit of camping. If you just keep rushing/moving you're going to be at a huge disadvantage when facing someone equipped with a gun much better suited for close/medium range. And if you're rushing around chances are the brunt of your kills will be from quick scopes.

In HALO, (all I really play) most people stay where they are.

Yeah, the bullet trail leads practically right back to you, but, most attempts at countering are halted.

However, I go with the notion "Fire, move on."

Well if you want to be a traditional sniper then it does include a small amount of camping. But that's just before you take a shot, once the first shot is gone, if the other guy is dead, move on. If he's still alive kill him first, then move on.
