Not really, but then you couldn't discuss it with other people... oh wait, you have us.

No, that's like saying you have to have friends over when you watch a movie at home. Going to a theater is still just watching a movie.

No. That's almost too ridiculous a question to take seriously.

The only person that would possibly see it in a negative light would be someone who cares waaaay too much about what people think than seeing a movie or having a good time.

I'm going to say no, but there does seem to be some social stigma attached to going to the movies by yourself.
Still, I wouldn't worry about it to much.

Actually, some people do find it weird to see a movie by yourself. I'm not one of them though. I normally end up going alone as most of my friends live hours away and can't afford to drive over to hang out 99% of the time.

Nobody munching popcorn in your ear, texting their girlfriend half way through or talking to you?

Yes please.

Nope, although I can't imagine doing that. I prefer watching movies with friends, but going to the cinema alone is no different to lying on your couch with a dvd at home.

Plan: Once he has seen movie, change opinion and convince that it is a very weird thing to do indeed :p

Jokes, I think there is nothing wrong with it.

I hadn't done it until a couple of months ago, and I used to think it was weird, but really, it's not.

Well, I don't find it so. Some people would feel a bit lonely and awkward.

It's not really weird. If you don't know anyone who'd enjoy that type of film to ask then it's pretty normal to go see it on your own. A lot of people do.

I go to the theatre by myself all the time. I used to think it would be weird to, but now I actually hate going to the movies WITH people.

1) I like seeing movies in the theatre for the big screen and surround sound. Its atmospheric. IMO.
2) If I pay $10+ to go see a movie (I always get popcorn, I love popcorn...) then I want to actually watch the movie. I don't want to talk to anybody during it, or have to listen to anybody talk during it... Only thing I want to hear is the movie.
3) If I'm not going to talk to anybody, what is the point of having them there at all?
4) In that case, the only reason to go with anybody is so that people don't look at you and think, "Wow, what a weirdo, seeing a movie by himself."
5) Fuck those people.

I used to go almost every Tuesday when it was Telus Tuesdays, basically free popcorn and a drink with price of admission. Man I love theatre popcorn.

No. People that say otherwise are judgemental dicks who think every person has to do everything with at least three other friends otherwise that person is a loner. I'll usually see a movie with mates simple for something to do (I.E. We'll go and watch a movie we don't really think will be fantastic, but fun nonetheless (Sucker Punch. Actually, I did rather enjoy that movie)). But if there is a movie I really want to see (Super 8, I fucking loved that film) I will have no qualm about going by myself.

No. While I do prefer to watch a film with my friend but sometimes he can't make it or I don't have the cash to meet up with him to watch the film (but got enough to watch it at the local cinema). So I make do and watch a film by myself. There nothing wrong with that.

Not really, though I did feel odd once when I was literally the only one in the theatre who went alone. It made me feel like this:

Other than that, nah. I'm usually going for the actual movie, though I would've liked to see The Expendables with friends. Seeing a bad movie isn't fun when you go alone.

Going to Disney land on your own however, you win a teddy, for yourself.
