I remember a time when Slipknot was 'really heavy' as far as I was concerned. I was never one of those kids that wore a Slipknot T-shirt with ripped jeans and the like, and even now, people wouldn't know what kind of music I listen to by seeing what I'm wearing. Slipknot got the ball rolling for me, and so did Linkin Park, both bands though (Linkin Park in particular) have changed their sound too much for any real fans to enjoy it. However even though Slipknot may be tame by comparison now, It always brings back those memories when a song comes on my iPod, and I'll always kind of have a soft spot for them.

Sure they are, they are kind of a mediocre band with 9 members for some damn reason. I used to really love them between the ages of 14-16...then i grew up.
The same here, their first two albums were rad, their first one is still one of my favorites. But their new shit is just...well it's not really Slipknot to me. They are awesome live though, 9 dudes jumping around like monkeys is a hell of a thing to watch.

Too bad Sid doesn't light stuff on fire anymore.

Danger - Keep Away

Love this song, performed by Slipknot, listen to it, dammit!

Don't know if they're metal, but they've got a few nice ones...

If you want a speed course on metal, be sure to pick up Brütal Legend. I've been at the presentation and... really, that's not a game, that's a means to convert people to the world of rock and metal. Genius, pure unadulterary f*cking genius. Epic soundtrack by the way.

Im definetly picking up Brutal Legend, and I agree with you. Im a fan of Rock, but not a whole lot of Metal. Hopefully i find some kickass metal jams thanks to this game.

To the OT:
In my opinion, yes, but I dislike them, because they are like a sadistic death metal. Thats literally what I think when I hear their songs.

Really? I guess it's been a while since I saw them, they were on their Iowa tour. There was fire and flames everywhere!.

Well there's still fire, but used to be ('till police intervention) Sid would ignite himself and his equipment.

So that's Sid...ok. Yeah I saw that, I don't really pay attention to their names.

Of course it's metal. However, that doesn't mean it's good metal. I'm too lazy to describe its subgenre.

People who say it's not metal are just saying that metaphorically, as in "it's a disgrace to the metal genre".
This. Saying "Slipknot is not metal" is like when you say "Rap isn't music". It's all figurative.

As for Slipknot themselves, I suppose Nu Metal describes them rather well.

Can't really blame you, there's nine of them after all.

Technically they're metal, but that doesn't mean I have to like them. There are bad and good bands in every genre.

I'd say there metal, not %100 sure though, personally I think Slipknot is shit but that's my opinion, I'm not much into Metal though, more of an Indie if I was to label my self, that or Alt Rock.

Sure they are metal but most of all they're artists with and without the mask...
They are nice and cute...
Especially Sid = Cute!
And he makes their sound more then complete!
For him I put a tribal S on my leg and a Decepticon-Emblem on my arm...
S stands for many things that are good and Decepticons are also one of my alltime favorites!
I like the tattoos and anyone thinking it's a cheap sign of trying to belong to something that's fake... go listen 'My Plague' or 'I am Hated'...
The songs are great and the shows rock...
Live they might be a bit chaotic but hey that's why it's live!
They are nice to their fans and fun to be with when you meet them...
Anyone complaining about them not being metal and being fake should reconsider what metal stands for and what the people who come to these shows stand for...
Metal can be more then just some noise and Slipknot is perfect proof of that!
