I think you may have missed the point. He's saying that there can be no definitive best thing ever, because people's opinions can and will differ assuming there is choice.latenightapplepie said:No.
You're confusing "perfect" and "best". There is a "best" for everything. In order: Boondock Saints, Ender's Game, Hamlet (this is the most subjective out of all of them, based on who's preforming), Michelangelo's David, Firefly.
Portal is a great game, but not the best ever. I'd say that that would be either Deus Ex or Knights of the Old Republic.
Errr. You may have slightly botched the quoting here...PatrickXD said:I think you may have missed the point. He's saying that there can be no definitive best thing ever, because people's opinions can and will differ assuming there is choice.latenightapplepie said:No.

quickedit: I agree that Boondock Saints is awesome, having just finished watching it again for the >9000th time.
OT: No, It can't be the best game ever, nor is it my favourite game. It was fun but not outstanding.
You said it for me.latenightapplepie said:No.
But only because there is no such thing.
What is the best film ever? The best novel? The best play? The best sculpture? The best TV series?
This more or less mirror's my own stance. It was a fantastic game, but I would not consider it the best nor even my favorite game ever made.canadamus_prime said:No. It was an amusing little outing, but I'd hardly call it the "Best Game Ever."
Exactly.SvenBTB said:No, but it IS absolutely amazing.
Can I just ask when was the last time you played a game where every single aspect was thought through for hours by a team of two people? Where the lead(and only)designer made the artist take out a set of stairs because they weren't essential? Where you were not punished for mistakes, but learned from them?ToxicOranges said:Oh dear. Major dissagreement here.Gecko clown said:I t is the 2nd best game ever. Behind Braid. If you haven't played it go play it now.
Braid was not one of the best game ever made, by a long shot. The story seemed optional, and impossible to understand / relate to, the actual mechanics were poorly explained...
In fact, everything about that game was badly explained.
