The gamecube can stand up to a lot of punishment. I've dropped it down a short flight of stairs, and it still works perfectly. Watched it fall 5 feet, onto thin carpet. Still works. Been kicked, stepped on, and basically treated like trash.

I swear, you could break somebody's jaw with that thing, then go back to playing Metroid.

Versus the Xbox 360, which had a heating problem...

I remember reading an article about this kind of thing and I remember them taking a sledgehammer and hitting it croquet style...and it still worked. Too bad that the game selection wasn't the best

As for the current gen too... I'd say any console with a hard drive is going to fail. So the Wii could be competition perhaps?

It just strikes me as lucky that you did all that and it still works. I take extreme care of my consoles and therefore my PS1 still works perfectly after almost 15 years...

They don't make tech as they used to that is true but thee 6th gen consoles didn't really make an impression of "Use me to hit people with"

Do you have an insane amount of luck by any chance? If so, can I have some?
Lol. I did take it apart and clean it out. Nothing was out of place. Now my N64, that has problems. the cord has been yanked 3 times, and the console hit the ground. Get odd errors sometimes.

My SNES fell in a bucket of water, was kicked, thrown, the power converter was set too high and all it takes to play any of the games is to blow out the dust.

Compared to my N64 which barely worked(reset button got stuck, games randomly refuse to start) and Gamecube that started getting disk read errors after a year, and refuses to read both the second memory card slot and third controller input(controllers work fine in 1, 2 and 4)

mine fell down my staircase (regular... 12-14 steps) twice... and it was whacked rather hard by a rock... and worked perfectly, after a day (i was like 12... and sacred that it would just kinda 'splode.)

I never had problems with mine. One thing's for sure, Microsoft makes crappy consoles, both my X-box and my 360 broke. Those were the only two consoles I had that ever broke.

I was playing Ocarina of Time on it, pulled the controller in rage at one point and it flew off the table top onto the floor.

The game was still running fine.

It'd probably be my weapon of choice if I had to fight someone with a gaming system, although the original Xbox seems like it could take and dish out a lot of punishment too...

Hey, I've had some of the most awesome 4player experiences that can ever be lived with that console. There's an awesome selection.

My gamecubes disk reader broke, doesn't bother me though because I got a wii the next week.

Now my N64 has been dropped out of the back of a car and it still works just as well as it did in '96.
My N64 still works too! It's crazy how much life that beast has in it. And yeah, Gamecube is pretty close, it's not quite as durable as the 64 from what I've heard but mine's still going strong.

Hell yeah! My son's bedroom door fell off it's hinges onto his 'Cube. 'Cube worked fine, the door not so much, nasty dent in the wood where it hit the 'Cube! 'Cube 1 Door 0!
