That is hilarious. And right in front of a church? The artist should get a cookie.

And the lines between the Abrahamic God, and Zeus slowly dwindle away..

No problem in my opinion, good to see a church with a sense of humor. :)

That said, I think it's an example of taking "protect the children" rhetoric too far when it's used in a case like this.

To put things bluntly kids are going to be exposed to things worse than that during school trips to a museum or painting gallery (both of which I did in Elementary schools).

So i was on good ole cnn, like i usually am, and i read this article with this pic in it and laughed, but felt quite guilty, but its still funny in my opinion

now this is a suggestive image, and is related to religious matteers, but that being said, i don't believe it to be that bad, no nudity or anything like that, but just because i dont want to be in trouble for this ive decided to link not imbed, if a mod says that its ok to embed i will, but until then better safe then sorry

thats my disclaimer, anyway

so what did you think, keep in mind that it was a billboard in front of a church

edit: by popular demand: the article [http://news.blogs.cnn.com/2010/03/29/joseph-and-mary-in-bed-obscene-or-illuminating/]
On the subject of sex and religion, back in the day (as in, Middle Ages) Joseph was considered weak and a cuckold (and cuckolded by the Lord God Almighty, no less). So in that sense, this isn't anything particularly new or exciting, right?

Anyways, I can see why people would get offended -- this is essentially real-life trolling -- but free speech is free speech.

Admittedly that's pretty funny and in my experience church signs have a reputation for intentional comedy. I think it's fine.

It's wrong,(Matthew 1:22-23:
22.Now all this is come to pass, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying,
23:Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son,)
but we let the Evangelicals get away with their Rapture BS, and that's a more damaging fallacy.

This is the opposite of offensive. This is a church taking a lighthearted look at itself, while not compromising any of its own beliefs. And to be honest, how few churches have a good joke outside? It's not even like it could really corrupt kids, who wouldn't even understand it.
Well played christianity, well played.

Virgin before jesus was born, mary had children after, James was Jesus' brother for example (half-brother I guess), and Joses.

Matthew 13:55
and
Matthew 27:56
and
Mark 6:3

Yes, I meant virgin as "did not have sex with God", not "did not have sex with Joseph"

Um...

HUH!

I can appreciate them having a sense of humor. If they are, hence, prepared to take a bit of flak for their depiction, then I see nothing wrong here.
