Yeah, it sorta is a bit mad. It is still funny as fuck though. I don't really see how it is that feminist, just stupid. I'm a 17 year old male by the way.

Yes, because women are only as important as their vagina, right?
See the problem with the message here? I'm not even remotely feminist, preferring to stick to simple notgiveashitism about political correctness, but even I am annoyed at those things. It would be like making the symbol a rolling pin, or a bottle of detergent. "Oh, this represents you all right- because you'll be using it a lot!"
They wouldn't even be sexist if they weren't claiming to be feministic.
I dunno, maybe I'm just reading too much into it. To clarify, I'd also be annoyed if they made phallic necklaces and said they were representative of whatever male problems there are; it isn't gender-specific.

Sound off kids, I'm curious about opinions. Gender, age, status and if you would give me some whys.

EDIT: Just to add, surely there are far better symbols of feminism than the vagina. Items commemorating suffrage and the struggles for equal rights. I can't help but feel those women would view this kind of thing with contempt rather than think they were a sign of progress.

2nd EDIT: Why do so many people view polls be never bother participating? That seems like such a waste.
I don't see the big deal. Penis-shaped and boob-shaped just-about-everythings have been available from sex shops for decades. I don't see how this is any different. Calling it "feminism" is a bit of a stretch but I suppose it is a celebration of femininity and the feminine reproductive organs, and thus you could extrapolate feminism from that somehow I suppose. If nothing else it's certainly pushing a boundary - let's face it, if it were penises nobody would care, but because it's vaginas, a thread like this gets made. Vaginas obviously hit a nerve with some people, as does feminism. Vaginas may not be the best symbol of feminism but it's a pretty good symbol of femininity, given their function(s), and celebrating femininity is something that a lot of feminists are naturally interested in. Feminism isn't all about playing hardball politics, marching with picket signs and teaching self-defense.

I didn't participate in your poll because it's not a very good poll. The options you've give are mostly not mutually exclusive, overlap considerably, and make little sense relative to the question. 1, 2 and 3 are basically the same response. 4 is ambiguous. 5 and 6 have nothing to do with the other responses. 7 and 8 are not even relevant to what you asked. A bit much for a question that is closed and thus only demands a simple response.

I do know some people who would love the site though.
If it was a website devoted to the dong I would also have made this post for the exact same reason. I didn't realise my poll was being graded and I would think they responses were pretty clear.

1 I think it's awful and I hate it
2 I personally think this is a hoax
3 I am surprised by this, why would anyone want such a product?
4 I am unsurprised by this, stop bitching
5 I find this unsurprising and I know someone who would appreciate one, or several, of them
6 I find this unsurprising and will purchase something as a shock gift
7 I believe some of the items are tasteful but also too intimate for public display
8 I appreciate the items and own, or will own, several to suit my taste

Male, 22

From the little I know about feminism, I believe its about a women taking control of their lives instead of living under the influence of male control. If you still don't understand it goes like this; Society has been molded by males for the last couple of centuries and women were pretty much a second class next to men. Male control therefore extended to sex which most societies emphasized a male heir and therefore reducing the importance of women to just childbearing. So in conclusion the vulva is a feminist symbol, even though it is kind of sordid, it represents female sexuality, choice and blah blah blah. Oh and if anyone thinks there is something wrong with an actual vulva there is something wrong with you or are probably American and product of its "no parental responsibility" sex education program or a misogynistic woman or narrow minded man. Get the point?

*BTW those aren't vaginae they're vulvae.

You just seemed surprised about nobody voting, so I was explaining why your poll actually discourages people from participating in it.

It's a poll where you can only vote for one option out of 8, so for it to be a good poll that people feel comfortable with participating in, you need mutually exclusive answers so people feel certain about selecting just one option. 1, 2 and 3 are not mutually exclusive answers, someone could believe any combination of all of those things equally - but which one do they pick. Someone could also believe both 4 and 5, or both 4 and 6, 1 and 6, or even 4, 5 and 6 as well as 7 and 8. Personally, I'd say no to 1, 2, 3 and 8 and yes to 4, 5, 6 and 7, but it's a poll where only one option can be selected. Thus, I don't feel comfortable voting because I feel that the poll is actually broken.

There's nothing inherently vulgar about it-- It's society that has attached negative connotations to any representation of the genitalia-- I don't know any girls who rock the Georgia O'Keefe aesthetic, but more power to them if they're willing to put up with society's reaction (like this thread).

Male, 20, single
honestly i couldn't have said it any better..so something looks like a body part..people have done stranger things and society hasn't batted an eye simply because it didn't have the stigma attached to it that genitalia does

28, male, single

Feminism is dead, bottom line. It was alive, but now it is dead. Women won, go them.

That being said, I obviously think this is in no way, related to feminism. That part is just a gimmick.

With that said, Whedon's not perfect. I think he strives for something and never quite reaches it, and falls into some of the same storytelling traps that I've seen countless writer/directors fall in in a male dominated/male-centric medium. Just not nearly as many as others out there.
Whedon's a great idea man, but he's not very good at presentation. And he's got a big ego problem when it comes to his work. He wrote the script for Alien Resurrection but claims that it was all the director and art director's fault that the movie was bad. According to the comments I've read of his, he really thinks he had a good story for that movie. I can give you that when he tries, he really tries, but I don't think he's anywhere near good enough for the praise the geek community gives him.

Is it feminism? No. Is it madness? Not really. Is it unappealing to mass consumers? Well...the way its done yes. (Though it seems vaginas are pretty popular)

Personally I think G-spot mouse [http://www.yankodesign.com/2010/02/11/you-mouse-around-here-often/] is way cooler than everything on the OP's website.

Unfortunately, I have no idea where to purchase one.

Male. 28. I don't think they're having the intended effect, all it did was give me a woody. It's just less subtle Georgia O'Keefe paintings. The pussy gets a bum rap, they're just trying to get people used to the look of it.

Showing off a vagina or a penis can and will negatively affect people.
I guess my ultimate point is that no, they won't. There's nothing bad about penises and/or vaginas, and the reason you think that there is something bad is part of the reason that people wear that jewelery. You've been conditioned to think that way, and depicting female genitals in jewelery is a very tasteful way of asserting the belief that people should embrace it as a positive symbol, rather than an icon of shame. I think you'd also find that acceptance of this type of jewelery will vary greatly from culture to culture, because all societies don't necessarily attach the same negative stigmas to those symbols.

Okay, I was going to say something, but then I read this post and found that it's already been said. I believe that wearing a vagina pendant is to tell people that vaginas are not bad. It's not a shameful thing. There are women who feel that way about themselves, all around the world, and that's what this type of feminism is trying to stamp out. I have friends, boy and girl alike, who yell at me for saying the word 'period.' What the hell is wrong with periods? Sure, they kind of suck, but they're natural. (Although I hope nobody comes out with a period pendant or anything. Culture has influenced me, too.)
It has nothing to do with genitalia being positive/negative, good/bad "symbols" and everything to do with divorcing it from its concept. Genitalia are used for sex and voiding, two of the most private aspects of a person's life. We are conditioned to be ashamed of having sex/going to the bathroom in public sight, thus we are ashamed of exposing our genitalia. Is it bad to think those two things should be done with privacy and modesty? I'd say no.
