Who are you to argue with a scholar such at this guy?

Really, sure it might save your head, then again nothing is protecting the rest of your body, so what's the point?

I can just imagine at his funeral:
"A helmet might have saved his life from this tragic accident if he had decided to wear one."
"Yeah, but at least he didn't look like a fag."
"That is true."

*facepalm*

Its like wearing your seatbelt in the car. Perhaps you may look "cooler" and "edgier" because you're not wearing one, but just imagine how cool and edgy you look when you brains are coating the asphalt.

Plus get the right helmet and you'll look like a badass.

Been biking for 20 years and I have never hit my head.

I can see why you should wear one when you a riding a racebike, but at the same time I'm too lazy to get one. Also because I would be too lazy to wear it all the time. Whatever anyway. Your own responsibility.

Well, I can vouch for that helms are good to wear. Ive fallen facefirst over my bike once without a helmet and almost got knocked out, I wasnt going fast either. Hate to think what wouldve happened if I was. Still I usually dont wear helmets but im always cautious and alert to my surroundings. But I can recommend a helmet, its well worth the faggotry. Better to look like a fag rather then be a wheelchair bound vegetable that does nothing but gurgle saliva.

I've never worn a helmet while riding my bicycle my entire life. I've had some nasty spills, and always come out ok. If I crash and screw up my head, I'll wish I wore one. But until then, it's wind in my hair for me.

Now if I rode a motorcycle, hell yeah I'd wear a helmet!

I think wearing a bike helmet is a good idea it could potentially save you life. But I ride horses often and putting on a bike helmet after wearing a riding hat .. well it makes you question how effective it is :S especially when you realise that effectively its compressed polystyrene.

All through my childhood, I never wore a helmet, rode my bike everywhere and almost never crashed. I stopped riding when I got into high school. but later on in life I started riding a bike in the summer to school and work. Anyways, now when I ride my bike I ALWAYS wear a helmet, and I have crashed too many times to count in the past couple summers. I don't know if it's cause I'm bigger as an adult, with more momentum or a higher centre of gravity, but it happens way more. So, I'd rather have some insecure wanker *think* that I look retarded, than smack my skull on the pavement and actually be a vegetable.

Well, considering I have a friend who literally broke his helmet in half between his head and a rock, and considering had he not worn it his brain would've literally fallen out of his head, then yes. Tell your friend that at least no one will call him a fag at his funeral. Seriously, your friend sounds like a fucking retard. Does he also like to show how not a fag he is by smashing his head into a wall repeatedly while listening to heavy metal and screaming at the top of his lungs? If he doesn't want to wear a helmet I won't stop him, but I damn well am going to call him out as the moron he is.

I'm wearing a helmet right now, protects me from the brain damage caused by questions like these.

Given the attitude of the guy cited in the OP I have no problem with his decision to not wear a helmet. And should he have an accident that smashes his skull all over the pavement then //shrug

Getting very tired of "fag" being thrown about and refuse to give one tiny damn, I certainly wouldn't waste a breath arguing with him.

I rode my bike to work every day for the whole time I was at my last job. Since it was a humid area and I have long hair it was bothersome to wear a helmet, but I wore that thing every day and don't regret it.

I don't wear one because first off, I look like I have down syndrome with it on and I don't really get how a bit of reinforced plastic can save me unless I fall right on my head.

A helmet's not gonna save me if I'm hit by a truck.

Besides, it's not like I'm going mountain biking or anything. I'm traveling 3 miles to the store and back.

I always get shit for not wearing one and to that, I just say "Mind your own fucking business, *****"

Your friend sounds like a classy and intelligent person who merely didn't get his facts straight on this one occasion, I can't believe he's such a worthwhile human being with great respect for his saintly mother.

The fact is that bike helmets can actually look pretty "not faggoty" or whatever, that is, really cool. If looking cool is all he cares about, then he's got some good choices. If he really hates his intact skull that much, no amount of older, better-informed people are going to change his mind.

Is your friend, in fact, 11 years old or similar?

I demand an option for not riding bikes! Because bikes are for fags people with stamina, of which I have none.

That's why it works so well! It's got air bubbles, space for the head to bounce around inside softly and cause zero damage, and they're really light to boot. Riding helmets, by comparison are more heavy and while they still have the compressed materials, they don't allow a lot of space between itself and the head. They're still better, but that's because of the outside shell. Bike helmets are designed to help as much as possible while still being cheap to buy, while riding helmets are a niche product and so cost more for quality.

I use a moped not a silly bike! and while driving my "very" legal steed i always use a motorcycle helmet, cause I'm cruising around 60-70 km/h. But back to topic! once in every millennium when I go on a bike nowadays I don't use a helmet. I mean why buy a bike helmet when you don't ride a bike...
