No, in fact it's a good bet that we won't have any more major players in the console market either. Also, wasn't Mass Effect Two also on the 360?
I think with Gears of War still to finish up and I imagine Bungie will make their next series on the 360 too along with all the third party games the 360 can sit contently among the other two.
Also, OP, think before you post please.

Is it dead because it's currently selling more units than Wii and twice as many as PS3? By any measure the PS3 is this gen's loser and the Wii is beginning to die down. Of the three the 360 is currently on top. I see a few more good years, at least until the end of 2012.

Rating based on things like unique exclusives doesn't make sense. The only metric that matters for any business is profitablity and as long as that's there they will keep the 360 going.

The exact same thing was said when the 360 started getting games that were previously PlayStation exclusive. Both systems are great, and for their own reasons. One is NOT better then the other, nor is either dying out anytime soon. This Gen of consoles is not coming to a close, hell, they are just releasing new "motion detection technology" for said systems.

Consoles will come and go, but whiners will remain forever.

How's that for a first post.
Fucking awesome! Welcome to the Escapist!

OT: This generation is coming to a close? I had no idea! Seriously, there is nothing that even suggests that the 360 is done. It's the second highest selling console in the world...

EDIT: Apparently it's selling even more than the Wii now, so the highest selling console in the world.

Well with Halo Reach just coming out and the next console generation not coming for a couple more years I'm gonna go with no.

What? Mass Effect 2 is going to the PS3? Time to sell my 360, regardless of the 100+ games I have that I haven't finished yet.

Stupid thread is stupid.
I don't get why anybody thinks Mass Effect 2 on PS3 is that much of a big deal.

Sure it's a good game but it HAS ALREADY seen a PC release, so it's not a 360 exclusive. Oh wait, most "gamers" personally are too intimidated by PC gaming so they act like it doesn't count.

The only exclusives anyone can REALLY count on are first party games, that is ones produced by Microsoft, Sony or Nintendo for their own system... or else they can very easily gravitate to PC or PSN. And I'm sorry, Microsoft is not doing good with Studios at the moment, Bungie leaving is actually the last of many

But I don't think MS will depend on exclusives all that much any more, they can just milk their current player base even more and depend on continued growth thanks to XBL's social-network like effect as in: "gotta get a 360, all my friends game online with 360" even if they are playing multi-platform games like from the COD series.

Hmm as far as I am concerned it is dead as there really hasn't been anything on the system that I have been interested in for the past two years save Halo:Reach and Bayonetta and that was only because the game had such a terrible PS3 port.

I clicked on a thread called "Poll: Is Xbox 360 done?", but apparently I somehow ended up in the "Dr Cuddles fanclub" thread instead. I'd love to see his inbox at the moment.

Plenty of life left, same with PS3. I think the Wii is still behind and will be the first to go to the next generation. But still, 'generations' are becoming less and less important. Unless some crazy new technology comes along I believe there is still time before I have to spend more money.
Yes, until Kinect comes out or until your 360 red rings.
Correct, though I'm going to ignore Kinect unless a miracle happens, and I just bought the new Reach 360 Slim and it BETTER not RR >.>

Uh no. Not at all. It's still making a crap ton of money? According to Reuters, Halo Reach earned 200 million dollars globally on its launch day. Kinect is coming out soon and plenty of major games (Black Ops, Gears of War 3, Brink, etc) How does this signify the death of the Xbox 360?

(I hope you don't mean peak sales of 360 vs wii, you can't judge tends by the short term, it's like extrapolating my growth between the ages of 11 and 13 to my age now... it'd assume I'd be 12 foot tall now)

Overall console sales meant something back when all consoles had a pretty low and similar failure rate so sales were relative to market penetration.

But 360's RROD being more than just a very Large percentage of failures but simply a matter of time (only about 3 years) before critical failure, that means there are a heck of a lot less Xbox 360's in the market than have actually been sold, I know many have bough new systems to replaced RROD'd models. I wouldn't call a loyal fan buying a replacement console indicative of its broad popularity but its narrow LOYALTY! It IS loyalty to buy a new product when the original fails on you... either that or irrational MMO-addiction like desire to reclaim their gamerscore+achivements.

I think you've missed the point... It doesn't matter why people are buying all these consoles, but that people are buying them. Also, you have to admit that it says a lot about a game when they can outsell the commercial juggernaut that is the Wii, no matter how short term it is. The point is that XBox 360s are selling like hotcakes still, Microsoft is still making money, so chances are that the 360 probably isn't done yet by a longshot.

Well, ME3 will rake in good profit, along with Black Ops. And Fable III. And Reach just boosted the hell out of Xbox sales. No, I think the 360 is fine.

The Wii market is saturated, that is the only reason the 360 is selling more currently but they will never sell as many total units as the Wii. BTW, people having to replace their old RROD 360's is important to the sales numbers I think. It affects the install base number.
Again, it's still nothing to shrug at, even if the Wii market is saturated. The point isn't that they're beating the Wii but that they're selling hugely at the moment. The fact that they sold over 100,000 more consoles than both the Wii and the PS3 is huge, even if the market is saturated.
