Meh.

I kinda grew out of the ZP humor. Sure, it's funny sometimes, but that is the equivalent laugh, I get from watching reruns of a sitcom.

He was funny at first, then after weeks of countless repetition it just got really old really fast.

The problem with ZP is that Yahtzee is wavering. Sometimes he acts as if he wants to be seen as a serious critic, other times he acts as if he only wants to be known for dick jokes. The thing is, he's actually pretty good at both - Extra Punctuation is a good, insightful column and some of his dick jokes are pretty chuckleworthy. If he'd just decide what direction he wants to go in, I think the show would be better. Maybe make it all-the-way comedy and use the column for the serious stuff.

I know nothing of British comedy, nor other video game reviewers/critics (save for the Angry Video Game Nerd, who I do not find entertaining in the slightest) but I do appreciate Yahtzee's wit, rants and accompanying animation. I'm a casual PC gamer and so I don't play the majority of the games he reviews/critiques, but he seems to dig Valve titles, which is points in my book.

I find him funny when he does something new, or when he has a particularly clever pun, but I mainly watch his videos because they generally raise interesting points about the games few other reviewers consider. He doesn't say much about the normal things being considered in reviews, so I always seek a second opinion before I take any of his advice, but I definitely do find it interesting.

He used to have me in stitches with his older reviews like Painkiller etc but not so much anymore.

It's amusing that as ZP has become more widely known and less of an 'in' thing, certain people have started saying "oh I never found him funny".

The fact that it's made the progression from being something it's cool to know about to something it's cool to say you don't like just shows how popular it's become.

I bet you a pound to a penny that all these people saying they've "grown out of it" are the same people who proudly introduced their friends to ZP for the kudos when it was a bit less well known.

I just find the worship of him here very, very odd.

I bet the person above me jumps to conclusions all the time, though.

Maybe the more recent one aren't AS funny, but that may just be because I don't know of or care about what he's reviewing.
I'm actually making a point to sit down and watch every single review he's done on Escapist, starting from the oldest. I'm on the second-last page, and several of the reviews have had me almost in tears from laughing so much (and trying to be quiet as I've been doing this since about 5am when the rest of the household is sleeping).

This gets brought up every so often and the response is always the same, some people preferred his older stuff when he included more content about the game itself, some people like his newer stuff where he just spouts abuse at the game, and some people wish that all the other people wouold stop asking us about it.

Seriously, if you think he's funny, then watch the reviews and laugh at them. If you don't think he's funny, don't watch them, and don't make threads trying to get your own viewpoint reaffirmed. Go your own way, don't depend on other people's opinions to back up your own, you shouldn't need that.

He used to be, but now he is uninspired and just makes piss jokes. also I didn't realize it was traditional British comedy...
edit: This guy is a lot better. He reviews games before they come out.

This is how I feel, he used to humourously point out the flaws in games whereas now he focuses exclusively on them. Which is fine in and of itself but it is not enough now that the humour is not as inttelligent as it once was.

Used to be good now only 'ok'

Though to be fair I dont find much on the Escapist actually 'funny' much is well written but I like things like the Onion more

Meh, it's funny listening to anyone rage out, the accent just makes it more enjoyable. That being said, I wouldn't miss it.

The point is, it's very easy to criticize someone else's work (or quote someone elses post) and make yourself seem clever by pointing out flaws.

Not so easy to do something original yourself that other people will talk about at length (or quote when they have nothing to say themselves).

That is probably the funniest thing I have seen in a few months.
