Kaizers Orchstra:
- in Europe: Some places, by music lovers (Mainly in Germany, Denmark)
- in Norway: You've been living under a rock for the past 10 years if you dont know about them
- in USA: I very much doubt anyone's ever heard of them.

I dont blame you though. They sing in Norwegian, but it's so awesome :( I feel sorry for you people who dont understand Norwegian.

Yes... they are playing on oil barrels (I mean, they ARE from the oil country Norway :p)

The Beatles......so, yeah....

Some other bands that I really like, say, The Bothy Band, pretty sure no one here has heard of them. Maybe, if you're Irish....maybe.

Hands up if you've heard of Hurt, Funeral for a Friend or Fightstar.
Yes. Yes. No for Fightstar.

Not to my tastes, but I've heard of two of 'em...

I really enjoyed that. I think you've just found me a new album to spend my money on.

OT: I have the skull and crossbolts logo of Death By Stereo on my wrist and always have to explain who they are when people ask what my tattoo is. I'd like to think that they're pretty well-known in the hardcore/metalcore scene but reality is not so ind to them unfortunately. Here's one of their videos:

Just in case people were wondering, the video's a parody; they don't actually dress like that lol.

Another artist that I will continue to champion until people take notice of him is Astronautalis. I won't explain why he's so great, please just watch the video:

No one's heard of SikTh though, if anyone listens to them I've probably introduced them. :D
I've heard of SiKth. The HMV down the road from me sells their albums. Can't understand why though... >.>

I don't think InMe have ever been particularly well known outside of the UK. Their time of supreme popularity has also waned, which is a shame because the stuff [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OixjXpbYfD0] that they are doing now [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sr0jaJG2NmM] is way better than their most [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OixjXpbYfD0] popular [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZKBsU8hZfG4&feature=related] songs [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WoAMYuVnRSI&feature=related].

That's what I thought.
Who hasn't of Funeral for a Friend? In the UK at the very least...

Pretty sure sure quite a few people know of Biffy Clyro.
They're massive over here in the UK, even more so now that X Factor stole their song.

One of the bands I listen to atm is Five Finger Death Punch, and I've only met one other guy that knows them. So obscure enough I would say.

Wilco's albums sell pretty well, their shows regularly sell out, they have songs on movies ("Jesus, Etc" was featured pretty heavily on Funny People), and they've been around for nearly 20 years now. But it still seems like I never meet anyone else who knows about them. They are far and away my favorite band though. I love the dissonant Americana of Yankee Hotel Foxtrot and A Ghost Is Born especially.

Stole you say? How exactly does one steal a song? A song which, I assume, has already been released no less.

I've unfortunately met very few people who know most of the bands I like. I do like quite obscure punk bands but even the more well known bands like Bad Religion most people seem to know nothing about.
My favourite band seems to change quite a bit though. I'd currently say it is between Bad Religion and Social Distortion.
I think Bad Religion might rise a bit more in popularity now, since The Resist Stance recently appeared in The new Need for Speed game.

And they're not too bad actually, especially when driving a BMW E92 across a highway at 200mph.

OT: A fair amount of people over in Britain have heard of Enter Shikari, and pretty much everyone knows Pendulum, Daft Punk, Jamiroquai, and Gorillaz.

For people who confess to hating bad music... there's an awful lot of bad music mentioned here.

I was being metaphorical to express my dislike of X-Factor using their song.
Biffy's Record Label gave X-Factor the song, and apparently Biffy had no idea of the transaction as they were playing in Australia at the time.

I'm annoyed it happened because now everyone's saying the song is called 'When We Collide' and not it's actual name, 'Many Of Horror'.
And also that people will probably buy Biffy's version; encouraging the Record Label to ask them to produce more songs like it because they'll sell like hot cakes.

MoH is one of Biffy's worst songs, and I've heard all 5 albums and a fair few B-sides.
I would not like more songs like it at all.
Also, their gigs will have an even larger portion of fans who are only there for Many Of Horror, and none of their actual Rock music.

Therefore, there will be less people rocking out and singing along to classics like Glitter and Trauma, Bodies in Flight, Joy.Discovery.Invention, and 57.

I've heard people say 'Well, let these news fans be fans, why should it bother you?' It bothers me because these X-Factos fans will most likely not listen to the older, really good Rock music by Biffy because most of them only listen to the utter shite that comes out of the God-awful TV show and the crap that stinks up the charts with it's auto-tune, repetivie, generic mess.

Yeah, a lot of my favorite bands are pretty unknown. I'll explain and show them to friends when there is genuine interest, otherwise I'll usually just keep quiet. I don't like coming off as some douche who only likes underground music and tries to shove that fact down peoples throats.
