Im going to vote that its the same as ever. I blame the slightly less funny on the lack of any good games to review

Naturally, the newer episodes are never going to be better than the older ones. It's the hype that Yahtzee and the sensible-minded gamers hate so much. Something will never live up to the high expectations it recieves. As long as we look forward to Zero Punctuation, it will never be as funner as the older ones. Waut a day or two and watch it again, it'll probably be funnier.

okay some of ZP contents is starting to really bore me i personally think he is starting to repeat himself. he also never seems to enjoy many games any more (did he in the first place) im starting this topic to see other peoples thoughts on ZP.

also meanwhile when he review portal which i didn't get was why he never mentioned that the puzzles where so easy.
He gets paid to be a douchebag, that's why he's not in the business of liking games, in real life he's probably more reasonable about things. Seriously, no-one gets pissed about the things he does and from the RL videos of him I've seen, he seems like a cool person.

EDIT: Forgot to add the OT. OT: No, he's never going to get old.

Wow, OP's grasp of sentance structure, grammar and punctuation is really quite terrible.

Er, I mean, ZP is still pretty good.

Portal's puzzles weren't that easy! I sure spent forever figuring them out.

I don't like ZP as much as I used to, that's for sure. I think he's getting sloppy these days, to the point where factual errors are creeping into the reviews more and more, something that never used to happen. (Watch his Bioshock review where he picks apart every single flaw in the game with expert precision, then watch the very recent Torchlight one where he gets half the facts about the game demonstratably wrong.) Having said that, given the content he has to produce and the timeframe he has to produce it in, I'm not entirely surprised. I'm sure the joy of gaming has been largely sucked out of him by this point.

Where ZP still has value is that at least it's a fairly unbiased review. Okay, it IS biased, but the biases are Yahtzee's biases, not the usual payola and market pressure biases that reviews have. Yahtzee may have some stupid opinions but at least he HAS opinions, something a lot of reviews (especially those in print media) don't. For that reason alone, ZP should be supported.

Of course there is a diminished return. I remember way back when he reviewed Devil May Cry 4 and I was crying because it was so funny. After a 100 odd videos the jokes still make me chuckle, but I'm now use to Yahtzee so it does not blind side me with its original insanity.

Still, after all this time, it is still very much worth 5 minutes of my week.

He does change it slightly depending on what he is reviewing, but it's always good.

Also the fact that he makes it clear whether he likes a game or not is good.

Personally i think ZP is getting better everyday. For examle on his time before the escapist not alot of people paid attention and had to stay by certain restrictions but now his opnions are much clearer than they once were so that is my opinion.

I know nobody's going to read this.

There was a period of about ten videos that seemed to lack the usualy luster. They were drawn out and exasperated, like he was making them only to keep up with his wednesday deadline. But the last couple have restarted their passionate love affair with me and once again I am unable to pull away for a moment. Darksiders line "I am a monster truck that walks like a man" was the closest I've been to vomit inducing, pants wetting, musculature failing gafaws since I was 10. Keep up the good work.

Well said, sir.

I still think he is funny, personally. His exaggerations make it humorous, and I haven't noticed any dramatic change in that...(perhaps I'm not observant enough)

I never really thought ZP was funny. I still liked it though for this very reason. I wish he did written reviews with less jokes.

With respect, I'd like to see you take a hobby you enjoy and then be made to churn it out as a commodity.

Nah, not really. ZP has its ups and downs, but it still makes me laugh, and besides that it's actually really helpful for my studies.
Agreed.

I can't say I love all his reviews, but after something bad he just releases the next one, which is actually a lot better than the previous one. I didn't really like the Torchlight review, but the next one was hilarious.. and so was the one after that, and the next... So yeah. Yahtzee has bad reviews, but the good ones are always in the lead.

It's certainly not as funny as it used to be, but that's more due to people getting USED to the humor. But it is still somewhat insightful, somewhat entertaining. For a while there his videos took a serious hit in terms of laughs, but he's been getting better in recent days. I like his Extra Punctuation articles better than his ZP videos though, and I don't see that changing.

It's just a suggestion, but I think he can do two things to improve Zero Punctuation:

1) Make them a bit longer and a bit less caught up on just blasting a game. Harsh criticism can be funny, but grows predictable. Even if he doesn't like a game he doesn't really have to resort to absolutely slamming every single thing he doesn't like. There's more to humor than insulting things. Different kinds of humor would be welcome.

2) Speak slower. If you listen to his original videos, he did not speak that fast. He still spoke without really pausing, but his voice was delivered in slower, quieter tone, which for me, made his videos more enjoyable. In his recent videos he speaks very fast (although he is not hard to understand) and much louder and angrier.

3) Bring back the old music intros. I know there's copyright issues and all that, but the old music clips were better, and as long as he only uses about 10 seconds of music from a song, he's not breaking any laws. Maybe he got tired of hunting for songs.

To be honest, ZP could never have lasted forever. Which is why he's branching out. He's opening a bar here in Brisbane (which I will not go to because I do not drink), as well as writing a book (which I probably will not read, but I'm willing to give it a browse in borders). He probably recognizes that ZP will eventually lose its charm. In fact, I get the impression that he really is quite tired of ZP, tired of the escapist, tired of the fans, tired of being known as the "ZP guy". I know I'd get tired of it. He gives off the impression that what he really wants to do is make games or somehow get more involved in the video game industry. To which I would say - don't do it. You're making a living off ZP and being funny. Being involved in the video game industry is stressful, expensive, stressful, risky, stressful, often unrewarding, and stressful. Did I mention it's stressful?

He has moved from highly bias reviews (ie focusing on negative for comic value) to a more un-bais yet highly critical review style obviously this means he isnt devoting an entire episode to complaining about the games negative and always now talks about the good points as well, obviously its harder to make sarcastic comments about the good features of a game so the overall joke level has decreased not a bad thing but some people might see it as getting worse.
