I was never hyped, never had an interest in oblivion or the ES series. My friend is extremely hyped though, perhaps a little too hyped (almost obsessed, like a druggy needing a fix) and I am kind of worried actually. I will see how this game does and see if I want to buy it.

I was just talking to my roommate who played it at PAX. It turns out that you can't equip a shield, a weapon, and a spell all at once because of the new "dual wield" system. Thanks Bethesda.

So yeah, not hyped at all.

EDIT:

Never cared once they announced the changes in the way skills worked. I'll stick with Morrowind, thanks.
Yeah, that was an instant interest-killer for me too. Oblivion offered the bare minimum for what I considered to make a true Elder Scrolls game. Cutting more was just the nail in the coffin.
would it be offensive if I said that I cant help reading your post in the "comic book guys" voice...you know from the simpsons

I know your reasons are just as valid as anyones....but yeah :p, anyway I hated oblivion (but loved fallout 3...but that was because of the setting more than anything) so..Ill probably give skyrim ago...a while down the track anyway

but Im "meh" at best

Im looking forward to Skyrim, it looks fantastic :D I dont mind about all the "dumbing down" either because I've never played Morrowind. Also the leveling system sounds great, determining your characters strengths as you play not all in one go at the beginning.

For some reason me neither. I mean I'm going to get it anyways but a few weeks or months ago I almost jumped through the roof at every new information given. But now... I don't know.

Oh i'm still hyped up for it here.

My wife and kids are sick of hearing me going on about it.

And it doesn't matter if I find anything wrong with the game I can change it my self. And thats why I love games like Skyrim.

Where is going to go? I dunno. I don't have a time machine. I can't predict what it will do next or where it will go. That's why it's interesting. I stay in the game just to see what's around the next bend. Isn't that truly where the excitement lies?

so looking forward to skyrim, Oh and they only really removed the pointless skills and the reason they removed spell making is because of the nature of the spells(and its gonna be REALLY hard to mod it in cause its very compilcated) But they might find a way.

I'm very interested in the game, but I've decided to restrain myself and wait until I've worn down my backlog before going for the game.

Werewolves have been comfirmed. The Bloodmoon has risen again. Hircine is hunting.

Spears awaiting pic-confirmation.

Sorry, just picked the first Skyrim thread I saw.

You can burn out on hype. Just spend every day playing CoD or BF3 single player and you'll be ready to slay some dragons by the time it come out.

Want to know why I played Morrowind? The maths part of levelling up. Setting your major skills as the things you didn't use to maximise the benefits. Now I can't do that.

To me, that was the game.
And that's exactly what I didn't like in Morrowind. When you're just starting out with the game, or even the franchise itself, it's kind of annoying to find out X hours in that your character is just about worthless, because you had little to no idea at the time as to what you're doing. I hated the leveling system in Oblivion and in Morrowind as well, since it really just baffles me how a system that rewards logically backwards thinking is considered so good.

Then again, that's my opinion. And no, I'm not an enemy of math.

Their advertisement kinda sucks so it's natural that people are not hyped as much as they are for other highly advertised games. But once the launch trailer is released I dare you not to be hyped. Just remember how hyped we all were when we first saw the teaser, and then the extended trailer with gameplay.

Im not hyped for the game becouse im doing my best not to be. If i get over hyped for a game i'll just be disapointed by what i get. Learnt that lession with Dragon Age 2.

I'll still be picking the game up on launch day from the shops tho.
