Eh, I never was hyped for it.

I think it looks like a decent game, but Bethesda's open world, no-story-or-characters-worth-a-damn, sidequest fest style really isn't my thing.

Besides, the combat looks dull, the animation looks like utter pants and the conversations still do that zoom-in eye contact thing.

I'll pick it after the price has gone down just to see what all the fuss is about, but I fully expect to be distinctly underwhelmed.

No.

My hype for Skyrim has faded in favor of other games. I still intend to buy Skyrim as the game will undoubtedly be great..but my hype is no where near what it was when I saw the initial trailer and details started to surface.

The more I learn about and see the game, the less excited I become because I realize that Skyrim is very much the same as Oblivion. I don't mean this as an overly negative point other than its a franchise that is not really taking risks to evolve. At least that's the impression I'm getting prior to playing it.

Honestly, I'm not very excited for it anymore.

I know that it will be "fun," and I know that the story will be deep and immersive, and that I'll spend many hours playing it, but I don't think that it will be as intense as Dark Souls or as...well, intense as Battlefield 3's multiplayer.

"It's almost time for Skyrim, why don't I care anymore?"

Because you've lost the ability to feel any sensation at all. That is the only plausible explanation.

Dual wielding spells man. Dual. Wielding. Spells. Oh, and calling down lightning from the sky.

my extreme hype has been recently swapped to and fro between skyrim and a webcomic called Homestuck.

i sort of just realized that i have the 11th off, so my excitement for skyrim has rekindled.

Prety hyped. Mostly because there is jack shit to play right now, and I'm positive I will at least enjoy Skyrim.

So yeah... it's not Skyrim itself that has me excited, it's just the prospect of playing something this year that I won't abandon in half an hour due to acute boredom.

I had a craving for something original recently as well. I bought Dark Souls; that seems to fill the void, for me, anyway.

I'm not that hyped for Skyrim. I'll buy it sometime, but for now I'm not too bothered.

I've maintained a state of mild excitement since the announcement. This isn't to say I didn't love the trailers and much of what I read in the initial previews, but I try to clamp down on any pre-release excitement or hype - it's just too easy to get burnt out or to have my expectations set unreasonably high. Either one can sour what would otherwise be an awesome gaming experience.

For the most part these days I don't follow games until their last month or so before release. I may watch a few trailers or a preview or two, but I try to read as little as possible before it goes gold. I've followed Skyrim closer to most, I'm closer to the series, but I've still managed to keep myself from getting hyped up.

Now once I start playing the game I expect to be giddy. :D

Skyrim looks like a dumbed down version of Oblivion, which was a dumbed down version of Morrowind. I think I'll pass.

Heavily negatively biased poll.

It's a game.
It's going to be a good game, perhaps a great game.
I enjoyed oblivion - there's a very good chance I'm going to enjoy this game.
I generally don't get caught up in the hype, Skyrim looks to me like it's going to be the best Elder Scrolls game ever and I'm all up for that.

I'm not counting the days though and I think that anyone who allows themselves to become so emotionally attached to something they've not experienced needs to consider how much stock they're putting into it. You're setting yourselves up for a fall.

Honestly I think it might be just overexposure. I think Bethesda's marketing team has gone waaaayyy overboard, not to EA levels of stupidity mind you, just they've oversaturated the market.

I'm still buying it when it comes out, but if I see another billboard or another of my videos gets interrupted with a Skyrim commercial, I'm likely to turn violent.

If you are like me, you will be super hyped the day before it comes out. This happens to me a lot, I get really hyped early on, then lose that hype, then the week or day of I get super excited for it. It happened to me recently with Battlefield 3, until the day before, I just didn't care, but when I noticed it was coming out (as well as seeing the launch trailer) the next day, I was counting the hours down for it.

Other topic: Well. I guess when they actually start having games on it that aren't just ports and remakes, The 3DS and the Vita should have some unique games. I am bad at thinking of these things. I am pretty sure we will have to wait for the next Generation of Consoles for innovation to happen again.

The hype started WAY too early, I'm no longer really interested in it either, I'd much rather play something else.
I'll likely pick it up at a later date but my previous decision to get it day 1 has become "eh I'll get it if I have the cash spare"
So yeah, they started the hype too early so most people seem to be losing interest except for the real fans of the series.

To clarify I enjoyed oblivion so I know that I enjoy this kind of game (to pre-emptively stop anyone trying to say I just don't like the genre)

I'm still looking forward to it. I'm still getting it on release day. And I'm probably still going to end up dropping Arkham City and Uncharted 3, since I don't expect to finish either before then.

I always get hyped for games that had predecessors that I loved. Sometimes I think a little to hyped up. I remember getting Fallout NV the day it came out, and was disappointed due to the INSANE amount of bugs and glitches. Same thing happened with BF3; I couldn't even play online for two days. I am still hyped for Skyrim though :p

I think it will be a while before the gaming industry creates something truly original. It's just been remakes over and over again for a while, but I guess they figure why not keep making sequels and what not if they're still selling. Only time will tell what games will be like, I guess.

Never cared once they announced the changes in the way skills worked. I'll stick with Morrowind thanks.
The thing that killed your interest was the way skills worked? It seems like such an insignificant part of the game to me. "The grass in this game TOO GREEN! I hate it now."
In a RPG Skills are the biggest thing you can do well or eff' up, and they effed up everything. "Theres a skeleton there, let me just make this RIDICOLUSELY OVER POWERED BOMB OF FIRE AND DEATH, oh theres 40 of them, let me spam my singy song like Justin Bieber and kill all of them." Good god its like their trying to make the game too easy.
