We've been over this in another thread before.

1.) They were trying to cheat the singleplayer game in order to get multiplayer prestige, i.e. achievements and the rare character portraits.

2.) Blizzard banned them from accessing the multiplayer portion of the game (as it has every right to do) as well as from getting any of those portraits, etc.

3.) They still have access to the full single-player game while playing as guest, they just can't play the multiplayer, which they were trying to game anyway.

Of all the things to get angry about, you're getting angry about people cheating? Really?

By all means, feel free to support - or refuse to support - any company you choose. But this is such a silly little thing to get angry over.
I'm just gonna leave this here in the vain hope people read it so we can hopefully avoid another 12 pages of pointless bitching.

Sounds a lot like the MW2 and L4D2 boycott.

We'll see how long that boycott will last once the next Starcraft pack comes out.

I'm going to boycott them up until the moment they finally release Diablo 3. Is that good enough?

Well maybe it is wrong to be cheating in single player and AI battles. I mean achievements can be unlocked by cheating and when training for the game just train on the go. But in a sense Im not supporting blizzard with cash by not playing WoW anymore.

Why would I boycott Blizzard? Everything they did before WoW was pure gold by any standard.

WoW is the biggest MMO ever and I personally had quite a bit of fun with it. It's a good game, and while not everyone likes MMOs, that doesn't change its quality.

Starcraft 2 is pretty damn great. As soon as they polish out the balance a bit more, it'll be awesome.

Diablo 3 is looking better every time I check it out.

As for Blizzard being under Kotick's thumb, correct me if I'm wrong, but don't they simply share a parent company?

Basically, a big NOOOOOOOOOOOO to the whole "boycott" thing.

Also, don't cheat...

It was time to stop supporting Blizzard the moment Activision stepped in. Was already boycotting thier games, just more to add to my list when the overtook Blizzard. Lucky for me, Diablo 3 doesn't excite me as much as Torchlight 2 now.

For such a well thought out and great reason like this, I'll boycott Blizzard until their next game comes out.

On an off-topic note and addressing people that also play TF2, are the people against the single-player ban the same people who are against Valve's actions against idlers in TF2? Seems like gamers are constantly jumping between supporting these third party programs violating ToS and then getting punished and going against it.

OT: I wonder why you couldn't have used the implemented cheats that Blizzard puts in for you to use, or use the Map editor if that does not suffice. I don't see how it wouldn't, since most Trainers consist of "Unlimited Minerals, Unlimited Vespene Gas, etc", which is what the in-game cheats already cover. Again, from my experience, Trainers do not distinguish between single-player or multiplayer, therefore, you can use it wherever (Albeit with difficulty), even in multiplayer.

I've yet to ever buy a Blizzard product, so, have I been boycotting them this whole time?

Boycott them over this? God, there's so many better things to boycott them over. Go find a real reason.
This is just another reason to do so. If you all want to support Activision and DRM fine. I stopped supporting them after Warcraft 3.

I'm not for boycotting, but it is weird that they can ban you from playing offline as well after you hack the system. I thought all RTS games had cheats already, though. I guess SC2 is the one exception?

I boycotted them because supporting them supports Activision. That, and Torchlight 2 is going to be loads better than Diablo 3. With MUCH lower Sys Reqs, too.

Using cheats in a game is a bad thing.
But if it's single player then it shouldn't matter. It's the person using the cheat that gets damaged by it (by not learning).

It's hypersensative.
Also, if you battlenet account gets hacked and the hacker uses cheats and get you banned, then get an authenticator.

There's in-game cheats that range from god-mode, infinite resources and faster training speeds. Why did this idiot need a trainer? It's his own fucking fault for trying to get achievements this way.

B, b, b, but, I need my Diablo fix. Sorry, I generally play on a PC that isn't even connected to the internet. I'd love to see them try and lock me out of that.
And I'd love to see you try to play Diablo III without activating it first.

OT: I agree I think I'm done with Blizzard. REAL ID, recurring activation, dumping true LAN and multiplayer spawning, seriously a company this suddenly abusive needs to be taken down a few ego pegs.
Give it about ohhh 30 minutes after release it'll have an online crack, fixed exe or ripped iso all at once.
