Understandable? Yes. Justified? Hell no. Yes heartbreak hurts, yes there should have been some sort of court action, but that doesn't justify beating up on someone like that, they way you describe it she could very well be seriously injured.

Though honestly, I find it odd that he goes from calm and collected to HULK SMASH just because of some insults from her. The first part of the story feels tinted in favor of the guy.

Maybe being told it was all his fault was the straw that broke the camels back, so to speak?

Still, someone at that breaking point usually isn't described as calm and collected. There's a huge gap between that and the limits of "under control."

Don't ask for people's input and then belittle it when you get it. It just makes an ass out of you.

I don't recall ever asking anyone to point out any flaws with the premise of my story, or to tell me how realistic my character's expressions are.

On that note, the story is an unnecessary framing device. All you really needed to say was:

"If a woman lies to a man and takes his money, is he allowed to beat her." Except you can't state it that way can you because then the answer is obvious:

"No."

If I say that then I would fail to capture the complexity of this situation.

What I don't understand is why is it no ok to beat a woman who not only cheated, but stole, and then Told it was his own fault she did it, but then on the flipside it's not only completely ok but encouraged for a women to do absolutely unspeakable things to men because he got what he deserved?

This isn't a moral dilemma...THIS is a moral Dilemma:

You and twenty others (Plus a few kids) are living in a post apocalyptic world. You ran out of food and have only your guns and ammo left. A nearby settlement is the opposite of this, lots of supplies but no way to defend it.

Upon asking to join with them or for them to share what they have, they absolutely refuse. Arguing that they need the supplies so that they don't share in your fate.

There is only enough supplies and means to produce them for one group, not the both of you.

Is killing them all down to the last justified in order to save yourselves from certain death?

I suppose you could argue that, if you don't kill them, your followers- the people who look up to and trust you- will die, and so you have a duty to try and save their lives. Ultimately, do you want your kin to survive, or a strangers?

I would say it's his own fault, if she was that good at hiding her true intentions then she is just better then him.

What kind of logic is that and why does it not apply to physical beatings? If he can punch her and stomp on her maybe he's just better than her.

We don't live in an age where physical prowess and the ability to beat up someone amounts to anything, unless you're living in the lower castes of society the ability to manipulate others and get ahead are better measures of worth. You might take the moral high ground and say that she is a bad person and had it coming, but in the end who gets the money? Who gets sent to prison for a few months? If our society continually rewards the manipulators can you tell me with a straight face that the guy who got off a few punches and kicks is better?

Well i think its fine, mostly due to the fact the girl seemed like a arsehole. some people just need to get hit as a punishment. i hate people that just don't like someone because there poorer.
