Ok no. I will contend that Beiber gets too much hate, but ONLY on the grounds that his target audience is young/teenage girls, not 20 something year old boys. I don't like him because I'm not meant to like him.

But ok, shove Bieber in my face and say "can't we admit this isn't that bad" and yes, I will in fact fight you on that. First off, aside from the obvious and blatant use of extreme digital effects in place of where a jazz or blues singer (or even your example, michael jackson) would add feeling to their voice, subtle autotune can be heard through this song in its entirety. Ignoring that, I could probably count the times that justin goes outside of the same D, D#, C, G# (all within the range of under half of an octave) on one hand. At the end harmony part he does sing higher up (his highest and lowest note sung are about an octave and a full step apart and are hit twice and once respectively) but the EXTREME use of autotune would seem to suggest he can't hold tone very well when exerting his range. Average human vocal range is about 1.5 octaves, making Justin's vocal range as displayed in this particular song entirely unimpressive.

One thing I will say about this music and video is that it's very well produced and the cinematography is good. Justin's acting is... well it is. Some of the best shots in this were wide angled, or silhouetted, or quick cuts. Justin is able to portray the part of someone standing in place and singing or doing stuff in wide angle or being quickly cut away from. Not exactly noteworthy but passable. So the only good thing I can say about Justin Bieber is with an extremely professional production team and a huge budget he can look passable and not sound like shit. Oh yes, I'm so awestruck at the moderate amount of talent that this marketable teen heartthrob can appear to have with millions of dollars in production funding.

Ok, I just wasted all this time typing that out. This is the part where you laugh at me and tell me the joke's on me, right? ...Right?
Indeed. Taking the time to hate Justin Bieber? Entirely worthless. You just avoid listening to him.

Taking the time to hate those who would promote Justin Bieber, and try to tell you about the artistic integrity of the autotuned sod who dances to someone else's choreography, sings to songs which were likely written by a team of suits with a focus group, sings insincerely about his topics, has minimal vocal talent which is then autotuned (Anyone can hold a note if it's tone corrected. In fact, you don't even need people to do this.) is entirely worthwhile. And especially: Screw those who upon someone pointing that out, mention he can play a couple of instruments: He doesn't perform with those, so they're irrelevant. He's yet another mediocre musician who is undeserving of his level of success, and his chosen genre, style, and influence on his own products are even less deserving of respect than his other overhyped contemporaries.

It seems like a fine distinction, but it isn't: If you try to convince me to listen to him, or tell me he's worth listening to, I'll disagree. And the rest of the time, he's gone from my mind.

Now, I wouldn't expect everyone to like all the music I do, and, you know what? I can live with that. I don't need to promote it to people who aren't interested. But if you really, really have to, don't tell us "He's really quite talented actually", and ignore his lack of both talent and integrity.

I'm entirely suprised by anyone male who enjoys Bieber, and any ladies over the age of 15.

I hate any artist that inspires slavish non-thinking worship. True, maybe it is motivated by jealousy ( hopefully not for me ) but i cant stand anything that inspires cult-like worship. k-pop , Youtube vloggers and this jsutin bieber. Its annoying. Its like that Jap cult who all mass suicided cause their leader said so. Its insane. If justin bieber kills some guy intentionally, would the majority of his fans call for his arrest? I doubt it.

I hate anything that erodes away at a person's identity and self-awareness. Basically anything that makes people , young girl or otherwise, go TAKE ME. TAKE ME NOW. TAAAAKKKEEE MMEEEEEEEEE

Justin Bieber seems like a nice guy to me. But i dislike his material and his androgynous voice. Seriously, first JB song i heard i could'nt even tell is the singer male or not. Seriously.

Yes, he is bad pop-musician
But there are only few good pop-musicians anyway
And I don't hate him, I hate his fans who are so fucking annoying, I want to shove Biebers CD down their throat until they shut up

Captcha: sun tzu says
Was it "Always drink your milk", or was it "So it is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you can win a hundred battles without a single loss. If you only know yourself, but not your opponent, you may win or may lose. If you know neither yourself nor your enemy, you will always endanger yourself."? I always forget what exactly was his thing.

I'm pretty sure they will find an excuse why killing was justified
Just look at whole Chris Brown and Rihanna domestic abuse case few years back
Did you know that Rihanna was guilty for provoking poor Chris and totally deserved the beating?
Thanks to few Chris Brown fans I now know the truth about who is really responsible in this domestic abuse situation.

He lip-syncs and so he has no credibility.
I don't care that he shovels out terrible music because his label tells him to, that's pop music but he should at least be able to sing his crap.

the difference in your example is that the word "baby" is repeated 3 times, in the Jackson verse nothing is repeated.

anyway ot: no I don't like mj and disliking him is not "retarded" op, having a different opinion is not a mental dysfunction.

and no I don't like Justin bieber either, his voice is far too high pitched, that and my mom insist on playing his shit Christmas song 24/7 at home.

If that song is supposed to be what he's capable of with his own creative control, I'm sorry but he will always be catering to 14 year old girls. You're not wrong about him playing his part well, however, I didn't hate it right up until he started singing, and he doesn't seem to be trying nearly as hard to look cool as in previous clips. Make no mistake though, this type of song will never compare to something like smooth criminal, which is in no small part because it's designed to be safe, and easy for teenagers to like. I'm more than a little confused as to why you'd rate Jackson (generally considered to have released 'good' music) and Timberlake (generally considered to have promoted bland, samey music-which I say despite liking the guy).

I think the real tragedy here is that the guy actually has huge potential. Rather than this stupid appeal exclusively at cheaply targeting teenage girls, they could create an adele like popstar, maintain his status as something for the kids to pine over and actually give us something worth listening to in the process. The kid taught himself how to play music and sing, which he does at a technically high level. I think that a lot of the hate that Bieber cops is hate at how the record companys produce and, really, gut music, but it just comes out towards him because he's the face on the end of it.

Beiber functions as a product. His musicianship, or lack thereof, is irrelevant.

I have nothing against beiber personally, However i do feel that the term "Pop Musician" is an oxymoron.
What about these guys?:

I stand corrected. Though i very much doubt that these guys would allow JB or anyone "current pop" to stand in their shadows on a hot day lol.

Not sure if serious... bro.

Yeah.... not the Holocaust, or slavery, or the fact we're ignoring Darfur, or any of that shit.

Beiber man. That's the thing the future civilizations are going to look back and judge us on, our pop musicians.
In all likely hood, Slavery, the Holocaust and Darfur will likely be footnotes to the general public in the future. Hell, they dont get that much attention high-school history classes right now, and that the extent of history people will likely learn, unless they go to college for a history degree.

But pop culture... everyone will remember that... there will be Trivial Pursuit games made about it...

*Edit*

Also, I hate his music, as there are very horrible things one can hear in this world, and they are all pleasant in comparison to that shit he calls music.

As a person though, I dont hate him. It takes knowing a person before I decide to hate him.
Jesus, I'm not even that cynical... But now that I think about it, especially with todays youth*, you're probably right.

*Jesus christ... 24 years old next week, I'm an old man :(

Have you noticed how it's usually the good music that survives? That is if you consider Justin a 'bad' musician. * Shrugs,* we'll see in a few decades.
The Beatles survived so the bad music does survive.
'Usually.' The Beatles weren't a horrendous band anyhow; they may not suit your tastes but you can't deny they made quality music.
Oh yes I can, their music sucked. How they influenced music by sounding as bad as they did I have no idea.

Justin Bieber hate was cute at first. As I understand it, it started because people got sick of him being over-promoted on Reddit and decided to take it out on his Youtube videos. I even got swept up in it during that whole Eric Douglace debacle.

But, ah, that was, what, two years ago? Three? Longer? Justin Bieber jokes are now so old it's pathetic. Now every time I see him used as a punchline I want to punch a metalhead just on general principles, and I AM a metalhead! I mean, Jesus Christ, why is this still considered funny? Move on already! Find something new to make fun of, because to be quite frank, his haters are now officially far more annoying than his fans. I can't go three days without seeing one of those dumbass "395 people are Justin Bieber fans" comments or have been brought up as an "example" of how bad music is these days, and yet I cannot remember the last time I encountered a squeeing Belieber. Furthermore, I can count on one hand the number of times I've heard a Bieber song played outside of a Todd in the Shadows review.

In short, I am sick and tired of Bieber hate, and I don't even like Bieber! I don't mind him, he's got talent and I wish him all the best in his career, I just won't go out of my way to listen to his stuff, the same way I won't go out of my way to listen to anything I'm not interested in. But I can't ignore him, because the haters keep shoving him down my throat everywhere I go! Not his fans, not the media, the haters, and I am fed up with it. It's like the Twilight thing: sure, it was funny at first, but that was years ago. Now it's just sad, and it won't go away because people won't let it. Stop. Please, just stop.

The fact he's sold as much as he has surely makes him a good pop musician, whether you like to listen to it or not.

The boys got some skill.
I don't think I've ever actually listened to a single song of his, but he's got a video on youtube where he freestyles. It was pretty damn good.

I never understood why some artists attract so much hate, but whatever. Haters gonna hate.
</3

Also, Harper sucks. I would have been impressed if Beiber took the opportunity to nipple-twist the hell out of him.
Just sayin'.

He's obviously not a bad pop musician as he has been incredibly successful (in a crap genre). It's more that he's incredibly annoying and I instantly want to cause him pain when I see or hear him.

OT: I don't hate him but I don't like him either, he's just another pop singer. Just like Katy Perry, Chris Brown, Rihanna, etc, etc.

His music is mediocre but I don't hate him.

I don't really hate his music as much as most. I don't like it, but it's fine, I guess.

His dancing is not something I'm a fan of. No, I don't like it when the same moves are done by someone else.

The reason, right now, that I don't like Bieber is because of this:

<img height=250>http://www.teenvogue.com/blog/teen-vogue-daily/BieberOveralls.jpg

You wear that to meet the Prime Minister? Get out. Right now.
This actually makes me like him a little. Any individual showing disdain for Harper is worthy of respect.
But that like is negated by shaking the guy's hand. Would have been an excellent moment for a well placed "sike!"
