I am on the fence as to whether or not to try this game. The subject matter seemed sketchy to me at first, but having read a little more about it, I can see that it appears to be tastefully done. That being said, I am not sure if I really want to give this game a try or not. I may, but it will depend on when they can get their DDL working since I have had issues torrenting things in the past.
Hmm I'm a straight girl so while I'm not entirely sure it's appropriate for me to play it it looks tastefully done to me and not at all like a fetish game. The art is cute too and the girls don't look overly sexualised.
I think maybe there's only Joker from ME that is the single disabled games character I can think of? That's kind of sad.
Well, having played Kira Kira (another VN eroge with more plot than porn) I already have some vague idea with what I'm getting myself into. Unfortunately I have exams coming up over the next couple of weeks so until those are done I'm going to have to leave this on my desktop while playing Skyrim in my study breaks (might get too boring reading textbooks and then reading a Visual Novel). Nonetheless I know I'm going to enjoy this!
So I just finished Shizune's path. I have to say, I was kind of surprised at the plot twist:
Turns out Misha is a bisexual. She attempted to come onto Hisao and I had him reject her. Later, I found that long before Hisao came to the school, that she was in love with Shizune. She was brought into the Student Council due to her knowledge of sign language. And they soon became fast friends. However, when Misha confessed her love to Shizune, she rejected her.
That explained the look she made when she was looking at Hisao and Shizune together in that one cinematic. Seeing them together brought her back to that painful memory. On top of that, she was also really worried over them being so close to graduation and how Shizune is so wrapped up in the Student Council. Seeing as how they may never see each other again once they do graduate.
It was pretty sad to me. And at first I wasn't too happy with Shizune. But I forgave her when she realized how she took Misha for granted and she made an effort to get her back once she started avoiding her.
I plan on going after either Hanako or Lilly next. This game is like crack I tell you! Kenji was right. It must be part of some big feminist conspiracy...

Out of curiosity, was Shizune your first route?
If so I think you'll find the other routes even better. Just make sure to brace yourself for a powerful emotional impact

As I said in another thread (and for that matter, what a lot of people have said), I was skeptical about the premise at first. Then I played through it and completely changed my mind.
I went with Hanako's path first.
Good god. That was perhaps the most emotionally invested I've EVER been into a story. I was in tears by the good ending. I later attempted to get the bad ending, which turned into the most absolutely soul-crushing thing I've ever witnessed in a work of fiction.
Also, I agree with Mister AC10. KS is probably one of, if not THE biggest impacts that a piece of work has managed to make on my life. I honestly don't think any other works have touched me as deeply and made me think about life choices as much.
I ended up getting the good endings to all the girls. I think I liked Hanako and Lilly's the most. Both of them had me in tears at various moments.
I think I'll change my avatar to something KS related soon...
I know that it isn't [a sleezy fetish sim] after having played it for 4 hours, but I still find the writing to be sub par. Sure, it is better than most VNs, but that doesn't really say much. All the praise it gets for it's writing makes me think that many people haven't read a book. As a shallow human being (like almost everyone, but at least I admit it), there are certain times where I just roll my eyes.
Nietzsche, Plato, Aristotle, Kant; numerous other philosophers.
I have a huge ass bookshelf full of stuff from Tolkien to A Treatise of Human Nature. Hell I even have a few old Dr. Suess books in there for nostalgic reasons. Red mars, blue mars, green mars for your heavy thoughtful sci-fi to way more pulpy crap that is just entertaining.
It's entirely up to you what you think about this visual novel, but I quite like it and I don't feel it's right for you to assume anyone who does has simply never experienced anything else.
Art affects all people in different ways, that's why it's subjective. Is the writing objectively as good as something like Tolkien's? No. Is it as timeless, terrifying and undeniably powerful as the syphilis fueled scribblings of Nietzsche? No. Did it use modern narration techniques (like unreliable narration) such as Yann Martel enjoys? No.
None of that means it's wrong for anyone to enjoy it if they do, or that they don't read outside of a computer screen.
I just finished Lilly's path (almost 5am, came on here), the scene you mention was indeed very emotional. her good ending felt very complete to me, there was just that sense of closure in a way, quite excellent. It might be my favourite but I'm not sure.
I just have Rin's left and people seem to really like that one.

Thanks for the mention! I think it all has to do with the person reading it and what stories they relate to (I guess that's an obvious statement). I really resonated with Emi for instance due to a plethora of reasons I don't think I'll be typing at this time of night/morning for time's sake. Let's just say our outward personalities and attitudes towards trusting people are very similar.
I also clicked a bit with Hanako, simply because I have scarring all over my back and I'm incredibly self conscious about it. Not as bad as hers, but you couldn't miss it if you wanted to. I never take my shirt off anymore. Hell I remember one time (the only time) I needed to get a therapeutic message, ordered by the doctor due to neck pain. It took me so long to work up the courage to actually get it done and when I finally went in and got on the table, all that jazz the audible gasp she let out when she peeled back the towel and saw my back cut through my heart. I never went back (I guess that's a pun) again.
When you can relate to a character I think it really gives someone the rare opportunity to acutely visualize or understand how they might be perceived by other people and, more importantly, how their actions and attitudes can affect those they care about.
