I guess that is the problem with a company having a reputation, I have seen very little of it and having known what Rockstar has done in the past, I pretty much just dismissed it.Trolldor said:You're a cop.Legion said:It looks to me like GTA but in the shoes of the old school Mafia, so I have zero interest.
It's the direct reverse of every GTA ever.
So where does the replay vaue come from, or any fun messing around in the sandbox world, I can't imagine a cop going crazy killing everyoneTrolldor said:You're a cop.Legion said:It looks to me like GTA but in the shoes of the old school Mafia, so I have zero interest.

Well, what if you don't catch the criminal the first time around, huh?Trolldor said:Not for this game. Once you know how to catch the criminal, the only way to play is metagaming. Deliberately missing clues or taking different approaches, which really won't have the same thrill.Dr Jones said:As long as you don't 'guide your way through the game the replay value is immense. There are different outcomes to each case. Compare the replayability sort of like that to a modern RPG (ME and such) there's sort of a good and bad approach..Trolldor said:I have yet to play it, so I wouldn't know what it was like.
I voiced my major concern elsewhere:
What replay value is there in the game once you know how to solve each case?
Yeah this. I was SO over Rockstar (but I did respect them). But something last year made me try Red Dead Redemption....it is now my favorite game ever.Outright Villainy said:I wouldn't if Rockstar hadn't proven so adeptly they can do a serious storyline with little dicking around already, but Read Dead Redemption has made me a fan again.
And it does look like a sweet setting, so yeah, I'll probably get it.
It's okay to not like those games. You're not the only one. I wasn't a big fan of them but San Andreas is one of my all time favorites.viralshag said:I have always been a fan of Rockstar and their games even though the last GTA and RDR didn't really grab me as much as previous games. I still think they were good games, just not for me.
I absolutely agree. But naturally, I am hoping for this to be closer to Mass Effect in scale than to Way of the Samurai (a good example for extreme replayability and ability to change the game through your actions, but very short actual playing time)Tipsy Giant said:I'd rather the game was 10hrs long than 20hrs with tons of repeated missions, my biggest quarrel with gaming. Don't just duplicate side missions and call the game expansive, lazy funnters
I really don't see what Rockstar has done to earn such discontent. Their latest releases are GTAIV and RDR. Has any other developer been more awesome the past two years? Well, maybe BioWare but then there's DA2, which I enjoyed very much but still paled in comparison to DA:O.ronald1840 said:Wow it seems like after all these years most 'fans' have little to very shaky faith in Rockstar to put out good quality. I never played any game by them except GTA4 for a bit at my cousin's house, we were just fkin around shooting RPGs at random hookers thoughD). Then after I bought and beat Red Dead Redemption (24 hours total, didn't rush), it's now my 5th all time favorite! LA Noire is a breath of fresh air in an industry of FPS, remakes, ports, sequels, adaptations, reboots, and spiritual crap and I welcome this!
From now I'm trying to avoid reading review scores and numbers completely as it usually leads me to watching gameplay videos, which lead to seriously spoiling myself (Bioshock plot twist). All a game $60 or not has to do to earn a spot in my wallet is;
-Interesting game mechanic not seen in most titles.
- Attractive art style
- Chance of replayability
- Similar to an all time favorite game I like
- I have fun enjoying the demo!
I've bought Enslaved Odyssey to the West, Singularity, and Bioshock 2 with this philosophy.
FUN > Innovation
I see you share Yahtzee's talent for clairvoyance.kman123 said:It looks technical amazing. It breaks barriers between gaming and art.
But is it a good GAME?
no.
