I shoot at it and if it runs towards me, run away screaming as long as someone else has its attention I stand far away and just unload into it (great thing about the rifle is that distance doesn't matter) the only time that sucks is when I get pounced or trapped by a smoker.

Depends on difficulty. (Co-op offline on Xbox.)

Easy- 'Oh look, i think a tank was going to jump us, but was killed by the computers before we got a chance to see it.'
Normal- 'Tank! Incoming, fire at it!'
Hard (or whatever)- 'Holy shit, that tank just jumped me and has killed zoey... But we are still alive.'
Expert- 'FUUUUUUUUUUUU.....'

In L4D2 i actually have adopted the "charge him and hit him with a Ninja Sword" strategy. So far he's usually interested in one of my teammates at first, so I'm free to get in a good 4 or 5 hacks on him before he starts to turn around, by this time we almost have him down. Usually i get swatted away to a safe distance, at which point I switch to my guns and, so far... He seems to die before he can get me a second time.

Who voted for "ignore the Tank"? When would that ever work?

I'd do what everyone else does online: run away and perforate the hulking beast with bullets.

if you ignore it the tank will go away eventually... (and you'll get yelled at for ignoring the tank)

In my experience, I seem to be much better at killing tanks when I'v got a sound mod that switches the Tank music for the Benny Hill theme.

From experience... Go through a window, shoot, and repeat as neccesary. Poor tank seems to have trouble going through those.

I noramlly run at it shooting then jump and see how far i can get ahead in the level while my friends finish the damn thing off. and you you do it just right to can get wayyyyyyyyyy out front and then get eatin by a hunter

I usually run straigh at it, and «try» to dodge around it. That way i keep it busy, i often get pulped but my allies always survive.

I was playing one time. It was the finale part with the house on the shore. I was the last guy alive. There was a flaming tank running at me. I shot it once and it fell to my feet. I felt like a God. Then a tongue raped me from underwater.

Advanced: Run and shoot
Expert: Run and shoot (if with AI..rage quit)

Molotov it- miss it half the time and then accidentally set myself on fire while fleeing the distinctly un-burning tank.
