So what I want to know is while just in general use (internet surfing ect.) do you use a laptop or a PC. I say in general use as laptops suck for gaming and most other things.

I have/use a Laptop as my PC got destroyed by Viruses and now wont even turn on so I got a new laptop as it was cheaper.

I'm not a big PC gamer so I'm happy with laptops. I used to prefer desktops but ever since I got my laptop 2 years back, I've fallen in love with the mobility and convenience.

It all depends entirely on what you want. I'm a gamer, so I have a desktop. I'm also a Uni student, which means I want a laptop too.

Laptops tend to perform worse for gaming, I'll agree, but I couldn't say that "laptops suck for ... most other things." Because they don't. They may even be better - portability is not an advantage that should be underestimated.

Noting of course that Knights of the Old Republic WAS released on PC, you just have to find it...

I have both but I use the desktop whenever I can because it's a lot more powerful. Laptops are generally worthless for gaming, even the "gaming" ones perform like 2 year old desktops but for most stuff they can be useful.

If you want to game on the run you're better off with a PSP or DS, at least that way you are paying through the nose for an inferior gaming experience.

I only have a desktop, but I imagine when I finally get a laptop I'll use it for general websurfing and stuff.

About an even split between a 5-year-old desktop and an Origami [http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/umpc/default.mspx] laptop.

I don't hit this site on my Origami much, though, as the small screen doesn't render the page width too well unless I hit the scaler button... which makes the text a bit dinky on a 7" screen.

I wouldn´t exactly recommend a laptop for gaming. One of its obvious disadvantages is that you can´t upgrade it whereas a desktop can be upgraded easily.

I use my laptop for certain games, like Bioshock. But I wouldn´t go very far by putting demanding games like Crysis.

Like you said, it´s better to have a desktop if you want serious gaming.

I only use a laptop because I have no space for a desktop. Thankfully it has an independent graphics card, not an integrated one, so gaming is possible and an absolutely sublime screen which is the only thing I've found so far (and can afford) that can do justice to Blu-ray movies.

How much power do you need to websurf, word process, and manage Itunes? Laptop for non-gaming purposes.

laptop because i can use it on the go and it makes for a nice weapon if someone acts like a prat on a plane also if you throw a computer not only will it hurt your back a bit but you cant blame that on dropping it while walking around your house because that would be stupid even by my standards

I use a laptop for gaming and surfing, although I would much rather use a PC. They seem to run faster and smoother than its laptop counterpart.

Probably PC for me. It's got me through a lot of games ok and managed all The Sims 2 expansions at one point. For the first time in two years it broke the other day, when I did something to make the motherboard explode.
