So I had an Idea for left 4 dead 2 dlc:

What about a short single player campaign starring Bill. Bill has supposedly died in between the events of the first game, and the events of the latest DLC "The Passing". But what if there was a plot twist and he didn't die?

My idea is that instead of dying he was just injured, separated from the group, and was forced to fight his way through zombies on his own. I think it would be very fun and interesting to have a single player DLC mission. It would be a dramatic change of pace from the traditional 4 player co-op format of left 4 dead.

In terms of gameplay instead of taking on hoards of Zombies you would take on just a few. However being old, and wounded they would put up much more of a fight. A lot of people have accused L4D2 of not being fresh enough. This mission would be a radical departure from the traditional 4 player gameplay. It would also allow valve to implement more survival horror elements and make for an interesting mission. I think this campaign should end by Bill meeting up with the rest of the survivors.

So, whats your opinion? Is this a good Idea, and if not; how could it be improved?

EDIT: Bill would be able to free himself from special infected through quicktime events.

Thanks for the spoiler alert.

If Valve can find a way to make it work without using the G-Man Plot Device I'd love to try it out.

More game types can only mean more fun.

Then you would have to throw away most of the special infected. If a Smoker/Jockey/Hunter/Charger hit Bill, then it would be over and tacking on a Quick Time Event so he can free himself won't really make the game feel any better or fun. The Special Infected are meant to be challenging and diffrent from the rest of the Zombies. They are meant to encourage teamwork. If you throw away the teamates and allow the Special Infected to be avoidable, then they don't have as much power. It wouldn't feel like Left 4 Dead any more if you had no teamates and single player Maps and Mods has been done plenty of times before.

You see his corpse. Unless there was another person who survived the Zombie apocolypse who looks EXACTLY like Bill, then I don't see it working.

But I think the biggest thing I want to know is, how is he suppose to break free from a Charger? Those guys are capable of lifting up a human being with one arm. I don't know how the heck you plan on getting free from that.

Thanks alot...
Goddamn, how fucking hard is it to put up spoiler warnings? Cheers. I haven't played the passing yet and I guess now there's really no point...
Thanks for ruining my day.

Well, thanks for spoiling that for me.
Ditto. I'm fucking ropeable. Not one warning. I thought this would be an original idea, not some inconsiderate poster giving away who dies in the Passing.
I honestly have no reason to play now.

How about mentioning SPOILERS in the title?

One of the many reasons I hate people. Have the decency to cover up your posts with spoiler tags, at the bare minimum.

At any rate, your idea is stupid. Let's take L4D and make it suck like some normal FPS game. In fact, this entire thread feels like a cheap way to expose the ending to people that haven't seen it yet.

So... umm... why didn't they just grab a defib?
...

I just sort of want to leave it at that. "..." sums it up. What you're suggesting is that dying in gameplay is the same as dying in the plot. That's like saying if a main character in another game was killed in a dramatic cutscene, tearful goodbyes and all, it would be fucking awesome if they just respawned ten seconds later and joined in the fight. That's freaking stupid.

not trying to sound like a dick, but spoiler tags please.

OT: I would rather see him as a one of a kind special infected.

You realize Valve is releasing a DLC for Left 4 Dead where we DO see how Bill (or the player who decides to hang back, in the game it's up to players) dies, and a comic showing the 'official' version of his death?

The guy is DEAD. He's not coming back. If Valve does anything like this, I am going to record myself burning the copies of Left 4 Dead 1 and 2 we own, and possibly even destroying The Orange Box.

Well, that would be part of the twist?

You actually saw him die but he didn't. Left 1 Dead could work. But it'd recieve a lot of hate from Steam Community.

I'd love to see a Special Infected Bill.

EDIT: Brad... I will Ninja you one day...

Yeah, you kind of spoiled it for me, but it's cool, ha ha. It wasn't like someone yelling "Darth Vader is Luke's father" while waiting in line for Star Wars: Episode V or something.
