I'm still going with the tinfoil conspiracy theory that a hobo that looked like Bill happened to steal Bill's clothes and M4. Which is obviously plausible since in every instance Bill is killed in L4D1 he still has his cigarette in his mouth and he is clearly dead when it is no longer lit since it is always lit when he is alive. The corpse in the passing doesn't have a cigarette thus it cannot be Bill, I will not give up hope until I see a Bill with a cigarette that is out!
I know Bill is out there somewhere fighting the Horde in his underwear dual wielding an M4 and the Reaper.
You know, you never see his face, and you don't see any bite marks.

I always wondered what it would be like to play a single player L4D that was more story driven. Maybe as a special forces soldier. Someone who could plausibly free him (or her) self from the grasp of special infected.

So I had an Idea for left 4 dead 2 dlc:

What about a short single player campaign starring Bill. Bill has supposedly died in between the events of the first game, and the events of the latest DLC "The Passing". But what if there was a plot twist and he didn't die?

My idea is that instead of dying he was just injured, separated from the group, and was forced to fight his way through zombies on his own. I think it would be very fun and interesting to have a single player DLC mission. It would be a dramatic change of pace from the traditional 4 player co-op format of left 4 dead.

In terms of gameplay instead of taking on hoards of Zombies you would take on just a few. However being old, and wounded they would put up much more of a fight. A lot of people have accused L4D2 of not being fresh enough. This mission would be a radical departure from the traditional 4 player gameplay. It would also allow valve to implement more survival horror elements and make for an interesting mission. I think this campaign should end by Bill meeting up with the rest of the survivors.

So, whats your opinion? Is this a good Idea, and if not; how could it be improved?

EDIT: Bill would be able to free himself from special infected through quicktime events.
Thanks alot...
Goddamn, how fucking hard is it to put up spoiler warnings? Cheers. I haven't played the passing yet and I guess now there's really no point...
Thanks for ruining my day.
Dude why are you playing L4D for the story?

I dont understand why people are pissed off when they find out who died in the DLC, Do these people play Duke Nukem or Serious Sam for the story too?

P.S they killed one of the best survivor's when they could of kill someone boring like Zoey.

To the people who haven't played the Passing yet and are complaining about the spoilers: Why on earth would you come in to a thread about it, knowing full well that there's a good chance that someone is going to say who died?

How about a game where you play as zombie Bill and have to take out the last three survivors. You get a zombie Tank, a zombie woman, and a zombie puppy for the other three players.
Now that's cool idea! It'll be Left 4 Undead!

I like the idea, I really do, but I just don't like the idea of single-player. The whole point of Left 4 Dead is co-op fun. If Bill were to hook up with a new group and made a new foursome, then yea, I'd play it. I just can't take him being dead, Bill is my #1 survivor out of them all.

Holy shit, now that's a good idea right there. I would DEFINITELY play that.

I don't care about the story for L4D as there realistically is none. It's just I wanted to find out for myself who died, rather than have it ruined. It's got nothing to do with the "story", it's to do with discovering things for myself.

It's mainly out of respect. Had they put an actual spoiler tag, then most people wouldn't have been upset. Some people wanted to figure it out for themselves and it could have been a thread about Left 4 Dead in general (As he did not mention the Passing in the OP at all when the thread orginally went up.

Ahhhhhh! Good enough. If it were me though, I'd still be extremely paranoid about anything to do with the game until I played it.

Hell, since we're gonna toss this around, how about for Left 4 Dead 3, it takes place in Los Angeles and you get to kill zombies who look like real-life celebrities. Hell, take a walk through Compton and encounter Hunters rocking the colors of both the Bloods and the Crips.

OP, I really do like your idea, but...don't really like the quicktime events idea, and L4D without special effected wouldn't feel right.

so far the best idea I've heard is a zombie-bill boss fight. I could totally wrap my head around that idea

It could work gameplay wise if they split up the group into two groups(one on ground and three in interconnected buildings or something) and made a few points where they would have to rely on each other, it makes no sense story wise{unless they place it before the death of the character). solid idea, just no way for it to fit the story.

The potential for zombie-bewbs increases the appeal to the internet crowd. :p

I'd play it for Bill, but that might work for other people.

It's an interesting premise that's for sure...but now that Bill's been confirmed dead it's doubtful.
You can actually see his corpse in The Passing, so yeah, that would be pretty fucking hard to explain, lol
You can take his gun too so...
Not that it matters which one they picked. After killing any one of them it means they won't be the stars of another one. Unless they come up with a new guy.
Edit: how about something for the first game explaining how they got that far south?

Oh, I hadn't thought of that.

Not that I expected Valve to recycle any of these characters for future installments, but still, that's pretty final.

OMG great idea for L4D3. What if one more original character died, and two of the new characters died, and then both groups met up after being evac'd to the same military base and then (of course) that base was overrun and they had to fight their way to safety yet again.

They could combine old team and new team into a new single 4 person unit, and those extra deaths would really add to the feeling of hopelessness.

If this were to happen (obviously I don't expect it to, it's just something I think would be awesome) I would hope it would be Louis, Zoey, Nick, and Ellis in the new team.

EDIT: I am SO turning this idea into a thread.
