I haven't really heard any details about Little Big Planet...sounds a lot like Spore from what I heard, and if that's the case, fuck it.
*facepalm* Go back to your gears of war...
*Cockslap* Go back to your shitty "revolutionary" games that consist of simplified versions of 15 year old games thrown haphazardly into a big pile of mediocrity.
Hahahahaha roflmao- well put. :D

Can't be a sleeper with all the hype. Anyone familure with gaming mags or podcasts has heard plenty about this game.

The fact that it might be (reasonably) comprehensive and usable by noobs seems to be anathema to PC snobs.

You just can't make a whole new game out of it, but is that a bad thing? No.
What ElArabDeMagnifico (thank God for Ctrl+C,V) is my point summarized, basically. I'm all for hype, but I've seen (and played) enough of the beta to find the idea that it would make other sidescrolling games obsolete, well, quite misleading. Even in theory. Which is the only idea I've ever tried to dissolve in these threads.

XKCD readers might remember this comic.

That's me.

"Then again, who here has synched J-Pop with Super Mario World levels? Who here has mastered the dark arts of Malbolge?" I don't know... you?.
No? Those are just hard things some people have done just cause. There are whole scenes dedicated revelling in the fact that they're making stuff that isn't really meant to be. Like the demoscene.

???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

So what is all this meant to say mate? That you're some kind of self-effacing long-suffering hero? What because you're pompous, play "miss-the-point" and misappropriate other's posts?

Here is what ElArabDeMagnifico wrote in full:

Hurr Hurr LBP sux cuz you cant re-write the code from scratch hurr hurr.

Seriously people, the downplaying of a game you've hardly looked into is just stupid and makes you sound like what people like to call a "troll" - the things I've seen people make in LBP is incredible, whether they remade the game from scratch or not. You can still make everything that is within the context of the game. If you want paradropping planes, as long as you don't mind that it's in 2.5D and part of the game map then it's possible. You just can't make a whole new game out of it, but is that a bad thing? No.
And I you will find it does NOT summarize...

Complicated? Annoying? There are plenty of situations where doing things by getting straight down to the nitty gritty is actually the easier way than doing things using tons of abstractions. For instance, the calculator you like posting would've been a 5-10 minute job tops if you could script things.

The calculator is impressive, yes, but only from the standpoint that someone put enough work into it to build a (virtual) circuit to do the calculations. I'd be more annoyed having to reconstruct such a circuit instead of doing a simple conditional statement every time I wanted to make a calculator.
Read carefully, you will find he is mocking you. And if you can't quote me in context... forget it. Get over yourself Mr. Woe-Unto-Others. Downplaying what you wrote before won't change it.

Your stick drawing is right, as this thread has stopped being fun anymore and become a drudge. People are dredging up the over-hyped Halo again. Speaking of "sleeper hit" it's time I got some shut eye.

Only time will tell if this game doesn't live up to its potential, perhaps it's too early to tell. It's early days for poeple in this particular community who are just learning the tools; hopefully they're having fun doing it...

Personally, I don't really know. I've never cared much for "cutesy" games, and thats why you'll never, ever find Viva Pinata or anything in my gaming arsenal. The term "sleeper" implies that it's not sold very well, and "sleeper hit" means that it hasn't sold very well, but nevertheless the fans of it form a tightly-knit community that absoloutely love the game.
