Have you, or would you tell a lie to impress someone you liked? Do you think its ok to do this?

I know a lot of people lie about things like their age, or say they are into stuff when their really not. It is harmless? Or is honesty the best policy?

Personally I think its best to be yourself, and frankly if someone doesnt like me for who I am thats their problem.

No. I see no reason to lie. It will usually come back to bite you as well. Honesty is always best.

If you really need to lie in order to be impressive, you don't deserve any admiration.

Why would I want to lie to anybody?
/Arrogance

No but really, anyone who has reason to lie is hiding something and therefore CAN NOT BE TRUSTED!

No, I have not, and won't do that. I don't think it's okay to do it, since you're just starting out on a lie, but lots of people try to do it to me.

I only lie if i know its variable enough to be believed. Its like Poker to me - Only bluff if you know you can get away with it, and the other person believes it, etc.

Im neutral on lieing.

Holy shit, am I the only person who voted "Yes" to this one? Huh, oh well, at least I'm being truthful about it.

The funny thing about all this is that people don't like to be lied to.

Know what? I am brutally honest. Know what that means? It means a lot of people who just run into me don't like me. Because I will say what I see. Truthfully. And its an annoying as hell trait.

I know I'm not that good at a lot of things, and I'm truthful about it. Know where that gets you? No where. Being truthful really screws with you. Because when everyone lies around you, what the hell is the point of telling the truth? Because the lie is accepted by more, it is expected to be true.

Know what? I wish I could lie to people better. I wish I could look at people, and tell them how awesome I am at things, or how good they did, or all that other stuff. But I lack that social skill to do so.

I really do find the poll humorous, because if you lie, no one is the wiser.

Pretty much this. If need be I'll gussy it up a bit. Like instead of telling people I was looking at a career in the gaming industry, I just tell them I'm in media arts.

Having avoided the liar's paradox in answering, I'd note that most people don't outright lie, but they will avoid facts. When asked about their hobbies, the prevalence given to them will often vary based on who you are speaking to (most girls hear about my love of literature before they hear that I play DnD weekly. The presentation is not to hide the fact that I play DnD, but to not have it be the first thing, and so the focus of attention).

This is a way of representing the truth, without misrepresenting. Or is at least the intention.
