Black Ops. I love the MP, but I'll be damned if I'm paying 1,200 Microsoft Points for the sake of some maps and no other in-game content.

That's a few indie games, a couple of pieces of good DLC for another game, a few movies.. It could be any number of other things.

800? I'd grudgingly pay, but I'd want the maps to add something, and not be just more sniper-proof clusterfucks.

My question is this; have you ever had this experience, where you've wanted/semi wanted the DLC, but have purposefully 'voted with your wallet', and not bought it because it felt insultingly priced?

For the record, I've spent about 30,000 Microsoft points in my time. I'm no stranger to buying things I want, but I know when I feel something is put at too high a premium.

Never bought a CoD Map pack.
And all my XBL buddies have bugged me about getting them, but I've always said: $15 for a few maps? No way am I wasting my money on that. I'll keep playing the game, but screw the new maps.

I bought all the Oblivion DLC, though. But I loved that game, so it was a bit different for me.
I felt the value was there simply because I enjoyed that game more.
Not in CoD though. Fun to play, not worth investing in.

Was it 1,200 MS Points? Strange. I thought I only payed 800. Oh well.

I do hold out on buying things due to my wallet screaming, but if I really want something, I'll save until I have enough to get it.

I am ashamed to say I bought the Oblivion horse armour which should really have been free but I also bought all the add ons so I thought I might as well.

I've been disappointed at times when I couldn't afford a DLC I wanted, but never felt there was anything wrong with the price. Isn't 1,200 MS points the standard for DLC? Seen a few 800's and even less 400's but over all everything is at 1,200, which is really only 15 USD. same price as a trip to the movie theater, only better.

I remember vowing not to buy the Robot Revolution for Borderlands, but it was half-price the next day so I bought it and was glad, cause it sure wasn't worth 800 MS points.

If I like the game, I buy whatever DLC I want. If I don't like what the DLC is offering I don't buy. I never bought COD map packs or things I could easily mod into a game. But something like Shivering Isles or the Broken Steel, I get.

CoD DLC, Halo DLC, Fallout DLC, Oblivion DLC, if I want it I'll buy it. I don't see DLC as being overpriced, either. If you can afford the £250 game console, the £50 game, and the £40 per month Broadband package, you can afford £10 for DLC - at least that's how I see it.

The DLC in this house is generally only ever bought if it's fuck cheap. We usually end up with all kinds of crap that was on offer at £1.99 or that kind of thing, but I don't think either of us have ever broken a fiver.

I only really want DLC for a few games. My brother is the impulsive one who buys 50 Rock Band songs then complains about the price. I don't mind the price for some of them but yeah, a lot of it is overpriced.

Yeah I'm refusing to buy most DLC at full price. $15 for a couple maps or an hour-long side mission isn't worth it. If I really care I will just wait for the GOTY bullshit later on and get it for cheaper.

Would be nice to have some more maps in the rotation for Codblops, but considering Treyarch hasn't bothered to fix some really obnoxious bugs, I don't see why I should be paying them any more money. Also seeing as how some of the base Codblops maps are really poorly designed, I don't know that new ones by the same people are going to be any better.

Mass Effect 2 DLC is a bit more reasonably priced, but there is so much of it that for the amount of money I'd spend I could buy an entirely new other game. That and I've so far been bored to tears by ME2 so I don't really think I have the desire to extend the experience.

I did however just buy the Vietnam DLC for BFBC2 because it went on sale on the EA store for $7.50, which is much more reasonable for a map pack (plus it ads much more than just maps, although the core game is still the same). I felt it was a deserved price.

I'm also considering buying Dead Money for F:NV because I loved that game so much. If it's really quality, then $15 is reasonable. Although in this case, I could just buy the GOTY edition from my friend at Beth for $15 once it's out. Even though I'd technically be re-buying the core game as well, it would be cheaper than buying all the DLC piecemeal.

I guess COD in particular is really the biggest offender. I just find what they are doing to be disgusting. You have the half-assedly-produced main game going for $60, then you have like 2-3 DLC packs over the next few months for $15 each, then they release a new game (which is more or less a re-skinned carbon copy) less than a year later. What's the point? You might as well just go to the ATM, take out $100, and throw it up in the air and see who grabs it first.

Oh, and I bought all of the Borderlands DLC (except for Mad Moxxi), but only when it went on Steam sale for $3 or whatever. Glad I waited too, because most of the DLC was just pointless fetch quests or rehashing of bosses you already killed in the core game. Some of it was fun, but I don't feel like it really enriched the Borderlands experience much.

That?s funny because I?m really picky about what dlc I buy but I was pretty pleased with most of the Borderlands dlc. Moxxi was a bit lean on new content but Zombie Island and General Knoxx are probably a couple of my best value dlc ever. Knoxx especially because Crawmax was fun to farm with teams and you only got to that after playing an extensive story line over a few different maps. A couple of the Fallout 3 packs were a really good value too with new toys, stories, and areas to play with. I would?ve gotten the Fallout New Vegas dlc if the game worked on it?s own but I?ve never played a more broken game on pc or a console. But both Fallout 3 and Borderlands were packed with content to begin with so I didn?t mind laying down $10 after playing them for months on end.

What seemed like a real ripoff to me were the gta4 $20 mission packs. For that much money they should?ve added on another Island for each one. Sure the Episodes disc was a good deal for anyone who hadn?t played the original gta4, but if you had, a few new toys (many of which should?ve been in the original game) and some new story missions in the exact same city felt like a ripoff.

I?m also turned off by R*s new LA Noir ?bonus? pre-order dlc. Depending on which retailer you preorder from, you can get anything from a different gun & outfit to actual gameplay content. So no matter which retailer you go to, you wont be getting the whole game. It?s the same reason I hate Capcom?s day one/on disc dlc. Do you realize that if they continue to charge $5 a character until the MvC3 roster is as plentiful as MvC2 roster, that game will cost an additional $100.

I stay away from those cod map packs too. The games are fun, but a few new maps aren?t $15 worth of fun.

I actually like the idea of dlc but I think what?s reprehensible is the publishers? attempts to overcharge for little content for games that weren?t very extensive to begin with. It?s obvious that most dlc is a cash grab on the loyal fanboys who are willing to pay anything in return for very little.

If it's a substantial DLC, like Broken Steel or Lookout Point for Fallout, or The Shadow Broker for ME2, then I don't mind the price.

But I refuse to pay five bucks for new outfits or a couple of guns. When that shit drops to 99 cents, then, maybe then, I will pick it up. But it ain't worth the dough otherwise, I won't buy it, even though it might be nice to put some shades on my companions for funsies.

I've pretty much stopped buying DLC altogether unless I really adore the game and the DLC looks interesting, otherwise it just isn't worth the money.

I usually wait for the sales that go on. Sometimes stuff I want never goes on sale, but often it does. I picked up Undead Nightmare for 400 MS points. Okay deal, I suppose.

Bought on sale - Trials HD DLC
Day 1 DLC for DA:O

I'm actually fairly surprised I haven't spent much of anything on DLC. I could've sworn i've spent more, I guess I just see a lot of MS point fly out the door because I've picked up a ton of Arcade and Indie games.

Also I don't think it counts but I got the GOTY Borderlands edition with all the DLC >.>

I was tempted to pick up the Day level DLC for Sonic Unleashed, never did though, maybe if it lands a deal for the 20th anniversary i'll pick it up =p
