Halo Reach's two map packs. And what irritates me is not the extra achievements, but the fact everytime you go on matchmaking it constantly asks and tells you that you lack the maps. I know Bungie!! It's my choice!

In most cases, by the time content came out, I was already done with the game and thus the prospect of spending money on more maps was met with a resounding "meh". As a rule, if I do not believe something to be worth the price I opt to not purchase it. It isn't as though I'm short on games to play at this point as my pile of shame currently includes Arkam Asylum, Assassin's Creed 2, Deadspace 2, Bioshock 2, Dead Rising 2 and I'm constantly looking for an excuse to play though beloved old games like Evil Genius or Baldur's Gate.

I pretty much refuse to buy map packs and picture packs (the second one really not being a big deal to anybody xD.), as I never thought a map pack was even close to worth its price.

Pretty much everything else I always buy though, as if it's anything other than a new map for a multiplayer its probly worth the cost to me.

Yeah, I don't get why you people buy new Call of Duty games either. I rarely buy DLC though, especially if it's stand-alone content for an open game world like with the (new) Fallouts. Mass Effect 2 is really my only exception, as I got all but the newest one since the computer I had that could run it died.

EDIT - It also helped that I bought Oblivion and Morrowind way after the fact so all the DLC was thrown in, though I'll probably be getting Skyrim day 1.

Remember Half Life?

I have NEVER bought any DLC and I NEVER EVER will. A few days ago I saw a stupid skin pack on steam for CoD or BF, cant remember which. 3 player skins for 7? or something like that. And I RAGED. Hard.

I started thinking to my gaming past, and I remembered Jedi Knight (one of the first games I downloaded skins for, on a old fashioned dial up modem, kids). Then I remembered Half Life. Remember Half Life? Remember Action half life, throwing knives and bandages? Remember Counter Strike and LANing? Remember the THOUSANDS of fan made skins, models and maps we had fun with, just because a developer saw the value of a creative community?

Now we get charged a load of money for a few mediocre SKINS? FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are few things in the industry that make me so fucking enraged as DLC! And EVERY time some fucking idiot presses the buy button we get further away from community mod tools. AAAAARGH! I cant think about it anymore I get so frustrated.

Appeal to gamers: THINK before you buy DLC. Do you really need it? Is it really worth the money? Wouldnt it be more awesome if you could choose from a thousand free downloads for your favorite game, or even make something awesome yourself, instead of being charged a shitload of cash for tiny mediocre content? THINK!

So far, the only DLC I've bought have been for BioWare games. There have been a few mild disappointments (Pinnacle Station), but nothing to the point where I'd never purchase again. The price points have never really bothered me because they're typically so small.

Nope, I've never seen any DLC I wanted. I only got some extras that came with the original games.
I'm not against DLC in principle, but it's mostly weak addons or cosmetic crap.

I'm not going to lie, I bought DLC for The Sims 3 before I wizened up and just started downloading custom content. Some of the stuff on there is pretty decent, but I have to say, I didn't stop buying DLC because it's expensive, I stopped buying DLC because EA needs to stop milking people with more money than sense, and release a god damned expansion pack that actually has content, and isn't full of bugs. /tangent
The Sims 3 has the worst example of overpriced DLC if you ask me.
Almost a dollar per item you wish to ad to your game. That's more than 10 times the price I would consider it to be worth.
And... the only decent kinds of hair, clothes and furniture have to be bought as DLC.
Seriously, the whole situation got me over my Sims addiction, and I never looked back.

...Sims addiction... so embarrassing.

Oh, and I once bought the Witch Hunt DLC for Dragon Age Origins.
I'm still wondering why I bothered.

CoD DLC, Halo DLC, Fallout DLC, Oblivion DLC, if I want it I'll buy it. I don't see DLC as being overpriced, either. If you can afford the £250 game console, the £50 game, and the £40 per month Broadband package, you can afford £10 for DLC - at least that's how I see it.
Just because you can afford it doesn't mean it's good value.
I can see why people feel aggrieved if said DLC is £10 for a character skin and an avatar toy, but if said DLC is £10 for 4 or 5 extra multiplayer maps (CoD, Halo) or and entire new campaign (Oblivion, Fallout) then £10 is damn good value for money. Map packs essentially have unlimited replay value due to the nature of MP, and story campaigns add depth to the game world as well as adding new areas to explore.

In short: Cosmetic DLC like horse armour? Yeah I'll agree it's not worth it. But full content DLC like Into The Pitt? I can't see why people feel DLC like that is overpriced.

I can list the only DLC I've ever bought
-Shadow Broker for ME2
-Both Map Packs for MW2
-New decks for that XBLA Magic the Gathering game

That's it. I am happy with all of my purchases. Most DLC I've noticed falls into 3 categories (or sometimes more than 1).
1) Stuff that should have been in the original that I don't feel like I should pay for.
2) Too expensive to justify for the small amount of content added
3) Most DLC is just not as polished as the original game

So for the most part no, I do not buy DLC. The MW2 packs I was going to buy regardless and actually it's a reason why I haven't picked up BlOps yet because I spent $90 on MW2 I'm not going to spend $90 on CoD every year that's just stupid. However, I am very happy with Shadow Broker and the map packs.

I just see DLC as the company trying to get more money out of you that should have been in the original game so I am wary of anything I buy. I will definately read reviews and such.

No, I've never not bought something because it was "insultingly priced." it's their stuff, they get to sell it for whatever they want. Also, you're not hurting anyone but yourself by not buying it. They know dang well what price to set it at so that they make the most money.
I don't even know where to begin.

You haven't? Then fine, give yourself a round of applause.

I'm hurting myself by not spending undue amounts of money? OH NOES! I'd better buy a Lamborghini on that principle, as opposed to a Nissan. I'm only hurting myself if I don't!!

And yes, they know how to set a price at which they'll make money. You should be in business school with that sort of in-depth knowledge!

If I want a DLC, I'll buy it. There's never been a DLC that I've "refused to buy" because of how much it was; rather, there's DLC I just don't want enough to pay the price.

That's a much different thing than making some empty protest.

I have refused to buy things I thought were overpriced...but clearly those were things I didn't want badly enough.
If I wanted it, I bought it.

So I answered no to your poll.

I'll buy DLC if it's a nice extra, but if I think for a moment that it's overpriced I won't bother. I also won't bother the designers took stuff out just to make DLC (particularly launch-day DLC, yeah looking at you EA!)

I'm usually fine with DLC but, in Capcom's case of cutting content for DLC that you have to pay to unlock really pisses me off.

Thats what happened to Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Lots of features were removed for them to earn a few extra bucks. Fuck that, all the content besides the extra characters should be free.

Never bought a CoD Map pack.
And all my XBL buddies have bugged me about getting them, but I've always said: $15 for a few maps? No way am I wasting my money on that. I'll keep playing the game, but screw the new maps.

I bought all the Oblivion DLC, though. But I loved that game, so it was a bit different for me.
I felt the value was there simply because I enjoyed that game more.
Not in CoD though. Fun to play, not worth investing in.
Even horse armour? :3

OT: I'll be damned before I (knowingly) pay 1200 for a map pack. I admit i bought the MW2 pack for about that price, but that was an accident.
