If I want DLC I tend to get it, the only time I was a bit "eh" was the price of Shivering Isles, but I got it when it was half price. Though I did buy horse armor at full price... (But I do think it makes the horses look great).
True that. Most of the stuff that comes with the base game is shit. Tbh, if I didn't discover the joys of mods and custom content, I would have thrown the game away a long time ago.Jovlo said:The Sims 3 has the worst example of overpriced DLC if you ask me.Taunta said:I'm not going to lie, I bought DLC for The Sims 3 before I wizened up and just started downloading custom content. Some of the stuff on there is pretty decent, but I have to say, I didn't stop buying DLC because it's expensive, I stopped buying DLC because EA needs to stop milking people with more money than sense, and release a god damned expansion pack that actually has content, and isn't full of bugs. /tangent
Almost a dollar per item you wish to ad to your game. That's more than 10 times the price I would consider it to be worth.
And... the only decent kinds of hair, clothes and furniture have to be bought as DLC.
Seriously, the whole situation got me over my Sims addiction, and I never looked back.
...Sims addiction... so embarrassing.
It's a poll, I have every right to answer honestly. no need to be snippy.GunstarHero said:I don't even know where to begin.spartan231490 said:No, I've never not bought something because it was "insultingly priced." it's their stuff, they get to sell it for whatever they want. Also, you're not hurting anyone but yourself by not buying it. They know dang well what price to set it at so that they make the most money.
You haven't? Then fine, give yourself a round of applause.
I'm hurting myself by not spending undue amounts of money? OH NOES! I'd better buy a Lamborghini on that principle, as opposed to a Nissan. I'm only hurting myself if I don't!!
And yes, they know how to set a price at which they'll make money. You should be in business school with that sort of in-depth knowledge!
Mm-hm, and your post wasn't phrased in an inflammatory fashion?spartan231490 said:It's a poll, I have every right to answer honestly. no need to be snippy.
The flaw in the logic? That a lost sale is lost revenue, directly resulting from unjustifiably high pricing? And from the looks of the poll, there's a pretty high proportion of people who have done the same.spartan231490 said:Yeah, it's called supply and demand. They know some people won't buy it at the price they set, but they also know that they would make less money if they sold it for cheaper, therefore not buying serves no purpose except you don't buy it. It doesn't hurt them any, that's all I was saying. No need to get all butt-hurt over me pointing out the obvious flaw in the logic.
..And maps, gameplay types, continuous updates on both l4d and l4d2, engine fixes, bug fixes, added content for more variation.and stuff for many other games! They doing it rite.Ephraim J. Look at Valve, Their Steamgames are doing it right ±D
And yet the Vietnam expansion for Bad Company 2 (calling it DLC is almost a travesty) is $15.NotSoNimble said:$5 a map is a reasonable price as far as I'm concerned. I never understood why people get upset over this.
