When you say abuse of power, i thought this was going to turn into mall cops bludgeoning a shoplifter. Some dumbass walking into a fountain... i'm inclined to say the mall cop was in his right. Doesn't anyone in this fucking country have peripheral vision anymore?

It's not like you can clearly see her face and she'll be haunted by this for the rest of her life. Now if she is suing over it and by that confessing to how stupid she is she deserves to be pointed and laughed at on the streets by everyone that recognizes her.

They found something funny and they posted it on youtube! They are like any one of us only they were at the right place at the right time. People countlessly criticize cops for this 'power' they are always abusing. Its really starting to anger me.

I don't think justification has much to do with this. The video wasn't theirs to begin with, so they were technically in the wrong regardless. Though I like how people seem to link the level of humor inherent to the situation with the rights of the mall cops.

Still, the fact that she's suing means she (and her lawyer) have undoubtedly found some sort of loophole. One that I'm sure she's going to milk for all it's worth.

They aren't "cops". They aren't in the employ of the state. These are security guards.

Their "powers" consist of waving a flashlight at your face.

Is it a SUPER MAGIC DEATH FLASHLIGHT?!
Maybe... I've been hearing some down right terrible things about those Duracell batteries they use.

Abusing their authority? It was their social duty to upload that sh*t!

First off, it happened in a public place. Anyone with a cellphone camera could have at least still caught her climbing out if that mall wasn't such a ghost town. It was hilarious and it needed to be seen. Plus she learned a few valuable lessons that day about navigation and phone insurance.

Frankly, it should be made into a PSA and shown during the Superbowl. God that would be great.

In all honesty, if I was the mall, I would have fired them for NOT posting it.

As for the girl? How can you be so focused on a 4" screen that you can't even see an entire fountain in your way?

I hope she loses the case. Especially since it's her fault everyone now knows who she is on that grainy security cam.

Fountain used 'appear'. It's super-effective. Bimbo faints. Bimbo has whited out!

Is it funny? Ya. Is uploading the video to Youtube right? No.

If I was in those security officers shoes, I probably would have laughed my ass off at it and moved on. Its just not ethical to put the video up. Its not an abuse of power, just a couple of guys being dicks about what they just saw.

I saw this vid on Failblog yesterday. It made me smile at the stupidity on display. But then again, this is coming from someone who once walked into a stop sign looking at a low-flying hot air balloon.

The guards on duty should have had one person head over just to make sure she wasn't injured and trying to play it off like it was nothing (except for the water, can't play that off :p).

The guards weren't entirely in the right, they shouldn't have posted this video. However the chick is in the wrong since her situation was one entirely created by herself and the fat that she didn't do any major damage to herself (that is obvious to see).

Not surprising anyway since lawsuits seem to be as common as having fries with your burger.

That video is hilarious. Shame the woman is now sueing the mall. I really hope the case gets thrown out, as she should have been watching where she was going.
