I have a group of friend's who just love the Japanese stuff, anime, manga, culture and 2 of them want to move there when they are older.

>_<.

Anyway, they start reading Manga and i'm sitting on a big group table during break reading a proper book (IMO). I don't understand the appeal, i kinda think Manga and comic's are very childish and don't help reading very well because you don't get your own imagination etc etc.

What do you think of Manga book's then?.

I read normal books, But I find it good to kick back sometimes and read a good manga instead of page after page of words.
Although I do like those pages of words, it can be a daunting task to keep reading.
Basically: Manga = O.K.

I like them just fine. But I also understand that they're not for everyone, I don't usually bring it up or talk about it unless someone else brings it up. Then again I also got it introduced to me by my roommate at the time, who was Japanese.

They're ok. I hate the fights. I can never figure out wtf has happened until some explains it.

I liked them more when I was younger. Now I just arbitrarily pick up ones that look like they'll have an actual story that I can get into, rather than all of that stereotypical, crazy arm waving and yelling in place of actual comedic writing bullshit.

But I haven't read one in a good while now...I think the last one was the latest release of Bizenghast. Now I really just have my nose stuck in textbooks.

So my final answer: Meh.

I really don't see the big deal. It's just a different medium and it's never really peaked my interest.

i love them.
Shure there a lot of bad ones but, there also a lot of good ones.
Bleach, Rurouni Kenshin, Negema, Samurai Deeper Kyo, the list can go on.
but thats just me.

I like manga. They're just comicbooks that you read backwards. I don't understand why people make such a big deal about it.

You're childish.

OT, I just started getting into Manga recently. I really only like the more mature ones though. Not pornographic, just ones that show people dying in crazy ways and have deep emotional story lines like Hellsing, Death Note, Gantz, Black Lagoon, and Ghost in the Shell.

I just have never been able to get into them. I've tried watching Anime, too, like "Princess Mononoke", "Ghost in the Shell" and "Akira".. I always feel the exact same way about all of them.. It's interesting, and then it hits a point where things just rocket off into a dimension of utter confusion that completely loses me...

The only thing that i've ever really truly liked was the first generation of "Robotech" (which was, i believe, "Macross: Do you remember love?")

well, i'm glad you are polite about disliking manga anyway.

i read some manga. not often though, and generally only if i see the anime first and enjoy it. i'm currently making a vague attempt to read the hellsing ultimate manga, as i have grown tired of the slow release of episodes.

manga may be a comic but its the same with all comic's.
there some for kids and there some for teens to adults.
Hellsing is a great one.
if you like it you might like Samurai Deeper Kyo.

Well, The first manga I read was the Furi Kuri manga, because I saw the TV show equivilant and liked the music, and how odd it was. Ever since then I've been a fan of The Pillows, and other Japanese music (now I'm into Maximum the Hormone, as they have a heavier tone). But on the topic of Manga, I didn't entirely love them, as I've only read one series. Also I don't watch anime at all anymore. I just listen to the music.
