Hello fellow escapists and anime/manga fans.
I've been watching anime since i was 7 years old, started off with 'Ghost in the shell' an amazing anime which to be honest i didn't understand at that time.
In any case, after having a few years of Anime experience on my back i believe i am able to see the good and the bad points in an anime or a manga. In the beginning i didn't like manga so i stuck to the animated series. But being curious about what happens next in Naruto i started digging around a bit, found a nice scan site and began reading manga. It's safe to say that i haven't watched an anime episode since then.
Why do i prefer manga to anime? Well, no fillers, better artwork and it's nice to see the original artist's vision spread on a piece of paper. I also believe that for a person to enjoy reading manga, having an imaginative side is a must.

So what do you think? Manga or Anime? and why?

Edit: For those not irrelevant: Anime is the animated series, and Manga is the original comic series.

Depends on the series. As long as I can find out what's filler and what's canon, I will go for anime.

I prefer Anime when it's done well. Reading Manga (especially online) can get boring. I only prefer Manga when either the Anime adaptation has bad music and/or voice acting or it changed the story for the worst.

I like manga more, anime tends to overuse things more then manga.

Ex: In the pokemon anime, Team Rocket shows up EVERY. GODDAMN. EPISODE! and they always get their asses kicked.

If a series is completed as both a Manga and an Anime, I'll watch the anime and just skip over the filler episodes. However if it is not completed I'll read the Manga as [del]most[/del] all Animes are based off of Manga and not the other way around.
Corrected that one :p

They both tend to be too dramatic. Sometimes the story is decent, but I just don't like either of them. It's probably because my sisters are downright obsessed with everything Japanese.

See I like reading the Manga, then watching the Anime after. Sometimes the animators take liberties with the comic and spice things up a bit.

Actually I've seen lots of manga series get heavy censoring in the anime version.
Think Gantz, not only half the content were ripped off in the episodes that got released, the rest of the manga still goes on. But it was over excessive with gore and sex, so they had to cut it down.

Whichever one has been done well. They're just two different ways of telling the story with one being no better than the other.

That's true, but I still feel like I'm missing something if I don't watch both. Plus you get the anime only arcs (like the Bount arc in Bleach).

Both, depending on the quality of the anime adaptation. Most of the time the anime's pretty good, but the manga doesn't have the filler. Generally I watch anime more than read manga, but my favorite series at the moment are things that were anime in the first place or based on light novels, and I've been informed that the Haruhi manga isn't very good.

I've not actually read Manga in a while >.> so I need to go with Anime on this one, although I've stopped watching as many as I used to and usually end up just watching Escaflowne all the time ¬.¬
