When they removed Helmeppo's gun and replaced it with a hammer on a spring, and replaced Sanji's cigarette with a lollipop, I lost faith in humanity that day. Even Naruto is far worse in English than Japanese, does he really have to say 'BELIEVE IT!!!!!11!1' EVERY TWO MINUTES??
To be fair, in the Japanese version he says "Dattebayo!" all the time, which is a nonsense word. So you can't hate them for trying to fill that time with SOMETHING... Rather, you can hate them for filling it with something INFURIATINGLY ANNOYING.

Also, hooray for Fotoflexer: it's like a free internet version of Photoshop. It's what I used to make that image, and edit out the Fox Box logo.
But Naruto says 'ttebayo' in the Japanese version which he adds onto certain words. It's subtle. I would very much rather have that than 'BELIEVE IT!!!!!' being screamed in my ear every two minutes, I know Naruto is meant to be obnoxious, but he was not meant to be un-likeable and obnoxious all the time.

Also, what image?

Both, as many, many people have stated above me: each have their advantages and sometimes one is just done a little bit better than the other (voice acting/character development/etc)...no reason to have to choose between the two.

Oooo you could've motherbeeping spoiler tagged that godsdamnit! Just....arg....I hate the internet sometimes. Thank you, another anime spoiled, the previous one being Death Note. *delets all his downloaded Naruto episodes*

*ahem*

Anyway, depends I guess, but most of the time I'll pick the anime over manga. Especially action scenes look so much better in an anime. I doubt that the EPIC drunken fist fight from Rock Lee (no one beats him in coolness, no one) in Naruto is even remotely as awesome as in the manga. I doubt I'll see a better fight in the anime itself though, I'm a sucker for hand-to-hand moves, screw that magic ninjitsu and genjitsu stuff.

Anime is better at times when you want something more captivating and when you want to know what colour something is (seriously I never got why all manga is black and white). But manga has no stupid filler.
You could figure out which anime episodes are filler and skip with the help of the internet. with manga and color....I don't think so.

Well, it's not always the manga which is the 'original series'. For example Samurai Champloo was first an anime and then it was made into manga based on that anime. (This has probably been said before, I can't be fucked to read every page from here)

Anywhos, I like them both. I watch more anime than I read manga but I'd be lying if I said I didn't get the kicks out of a good manga.

Personally, reading 2000 pages of a manga is a lot harder than watching one and a half seasons of an anime, but both have their ups and downs.
2000 pages? That sounds more like three or four seasons to me...are you basing it on anything specific?
Suzuka. They only made one season, and the rest of the manga was about 1.5x as much as the part that was made into one season, so it is a rough estimate. I think it was more around 1800, but I wanted a more broad generalization.

Dispite the extra filler, and filler episodes (which I sometimes like), I still like watching the anime because I can just sit back and relax. i don't have to flip from page to page.

Good point. I guess I'm still hung up over the Fruits Basket anime. One season, and I'll bet no more than 600 pages of plot, including filler.

Funny, I'm almost exactly the opposite. It's harder for me to relax while watching anime because it requires a specific place and time commitment, whereas I can carry a book and plop down to read anywhere!

Really, though, I don't hold filler against most anime; I'm probably the only person on the internet who would admit to enjoy the Beniaoi, Shimabara, and Black Knight arcs in Rurouni Kenshin (not the Feng Shui one, though, that crossed the line). Still, dramatic pacing-wise, I still prefer print form most of the time (with some exceptions, like the Fate/Stay Night or Haruhi Suzumiya manga), filler or no.

Hmm, you could pretty much do that with a laptop. Sure it still takes a little more effort and time then opening a book, but are you really gonna make that distinction? Hell, you could keep the anime up on another window/tab and It'll be pretty much the same amount of work.

Too much more effort, especially since I've got the wrong sort of laptop to do that, with its limited wireless capability and its battery life of a full one-half of ten minutes. Not to mention the extra weight, comparative fragility, and more at-risk theft target.

I don't like to pay for things, but when I did pay for them I would say anime, because you can get a dvd for 20USD that provides2.5-3 hours of enjoyment or a book or a manga for 10USD (i've started seeing the things for as much as 15 now) that lasts me typically 15 minutes tops.
I like the dvd better because it lasts me a bit longer and because I'm a fairly social person and would rather watch a couple episodes with a buddy who hasn't seen it than dump the first few books on the same person. Now that I acquire my goods in a method which does not empty my wallet I would have to say the answer is still the Anime, for the same reason, you can grab 4 or 5 friends and have a marathon anime session, that's less likely to happen for a manga.

.....why would you have something like that? If you just want a computer a desktop will give more bang for your buck and with a 5 minute battery life you can't use it on the go.

I don't have to use it on the go for its portability to be useful. It was ultimately cheaper than a desktop, and a hell of a lot easier to take with me when I went to Japan. There haven't been very many instances where I'd want immediate access to my computer where I'm not near an electrical outlet, anyway.

Really it's not the battery life that bugs me so much as the limited space.

No doubt in my mind that he was the cop out king from that chapter, I thought the Naruto storyline was going to change completely after that, because it had to, but it was just like 'oh, let's pretend it didn't happen, gold stars and toffee for everyone!'. It's a shame really, but I can see it going in a good direction again, I don't really doubt him. There's still a lot of things to cover, like Kabuto, and the 8 tails and whatnot.

Oh, by the way, I'd put your info in spoiler tags just for those who are watching but not reading, or reading but not up to date. that's {spoiler}info here{/spoiler} but replace { with [
i'm new. :[ didn't know how to do that! :[

but yeah, i'm interested to see what's going on with kabuto. last time we saw him he'd absorbed orichimaru and had half his face??

Sometimes the manga has a winning formula where the anime does not, or vice-versa, which annoys me to no end. That said, I usually prefer the anime, since it will just tell me what's happening, and I won't need to read (note that I'd be reading it on my computer, which is a real eyesore). Plus, I can then hear it in japanese, and still know the english, and while admittedly still reading...it's less straining to do so. Usually.
