I think what you meant was that Alcohol is legal. I wouldn't mind Alcohol being illegal, as it is far more dangerous than weed. On the other hand, as you have mentioned, there are health hazards when you inhale the smoke. The list you present with the benefits are exactly what I expected; benefits in controlled, medical usage. The same can be said for almost any substance. The politics behind everything is indeed quite interesting. Alcohol and cigarettes aren't banned, because they generate a lot of revenues for governments through taxes. Banning said products would certainly cause some problems, so we can't expect to it happening any time soon.
