So I have been considering buying either Bioschok, Dead Space or the first Mass Effect recently, and wanted to know which you escapists would recommend as being the better game.

Bear in mind I don't care about price and I will be playing on PC.

Thanks in advance.

And YES, I took ages thinking of a way of combining the game names.

EDIT: The typo in the poll was OBVIOUSLY deliberate.

Mass Effect completely. Apart from Final Fantasy, it is actually the best game I have ever played. Seriously.

If its the first Mass Effect then its the best on the list. If its the second then I'd say dead space

Last summer I got Bioshock and Mass Effect, and decided to play Bioshock because it was shorter, then thought "screw it, I'm playing Mass Effect". And it was a great decision.

I LOVED BioShock.
I haven't played Mass Effect but watching my buddy play it has been fun.
And i just started Dead Space the other day, so far its pretty good.

Id get all three but, if your just going for one then BioShock.

Dead Space. The story caught me more than mass effects burgle, and Bioshock (although brilliant) isn't in the same class really.

Deadspace.

I really enjoyed it. It didn't scare me in the slightest but it was a pretty good game to play.

Bioshock was okay, a bit clumsy though.

I only played Mass effect for about 10 minutes at a buddies house and all i did was talk to some dude. So i have no opinion really.

Dead Space, partly because its pretty much a tie between that and Bioshock and partly because I'd rather go burn my house down than help stroke Biowares ego.

They're all great games. I treally boils down to whether you want horror (Dead Space), over the top action (Bioshock), or more future tech (Mass Effect).

You really can't go wrong with any of these games.

Between Mass Effect and Bioshock.

Dead Space was well-made, but in the end it was a decently atmospheric exercise in jump scares and gross-outs. In terms of its scares, it's completely derivative and unintuitive. Gameplay is good, but just about everything else is... adequate.

Mass Effect is simply a science fiction epic that may be, dare I say, the Star Wars of video games in terms of its storytelling and themes. A truly amazing game that absolutely must be played, and the sequel is even better.

Bioshock is a great shooter, but its main appeal is the story. The plot twist is one of the most expertly pulled twists I've seen in gaming, combining all your normal storytelling techniques with interactive concepts that can literally only be done in a video game. A philosophically rich game that will make you think.

I think both Mass Effect and Bioshock are absolute must-plays. You can choose what would fit you best, but I would recommend either of those over Dead Space any day.

It depends on what kind of game you're after.

If you're looking for a very good, atmospheric FPS with a strong emphasis on story, go for Bioshock.

If you're looking for something more RPG-ish, go for Mass Effect.

I don't have a clue what you'd be looking for to get Dead Space.

Mass Effect.
Although I LOVED bioshock so much it's a close one.
Dead Space was fun and quite scary to play.

I'll go and say Dead Space, as the latter games seem to follow a 'mold' of certain previous games and thus didn't feel like anything new for me.
I see what you're saying here with Bioshock, but I don't really get how Mass Effect is really anything like any other kind of game. The squad system, the shooting mechanics that are more stat and class based, the story presentation.. it borrows from shooters and rpg's sure, but how it plays really is like nothing I've ever seen. And if there are games that play like Mass Effect, please tell me so I can go get them immediately.
