Dead Space: No, a world of no. It tries to be scary and fails so spectacularly that it's not even funny.

Mass Effect: I've never played it, sadly. Hear it's good, though.

Bioshock: Good. Going purely by reputation alone, I'd say Mass Effect or Bioshock, depending on whether you prefer an FPS or an RPG. Can't go wrong with Bioshock, though. Hardly perfect, but I enjoyed it a great deal. It's quite unique, in many ways.

Surprisingly family-friendly, too, seeing as both my parents are major fans of the game. Or maybe my family is odd, I don't know.

I'd say Bioshock. I haven't played ME1, but judging from ME2 it's brilliant.

Dead Space on the other hand is extremely boring and has shitty mouse controls.

Im one of the few people here that have played all three for at least a few hours each (although im on a 360). The real question is what you would want from a game, value for money - Mass Effect, Quick jump in action - Bioshock, survival horror - Dead Space.

What you are deciding is which bastard child do you want? KOTOR, Res Evil 4 or System Shock?
(Joke)

If you are an instant gratify kind of guy then dead space starts off quicker than the other two with bioshock close behind it. Mass Effect takes AGES to start proper (being able to free roam takes a while to get to). If you need plot-driven gaming, Mass effect wins hands down with bioshock being VERY close behind. If you need tight and well executed combat, dead space beats both of them for different reasons, bioshock's combat isnt fine tuned enough for me and I feel like I am spray-praying most of the time. Mass Effect feels like your taking a dance class and are still trying to figure out the steps while everyone else is moonwalking. what im saying there is that dead space's combat is the easiest to master as it uses familiar mechanics. Bioshock feels like you should know a few tricks to have an easier time and Mass Effect beats you for not mastering every nuence of the combat system.

I still recommend Mass effect for one good reason, anything you do in that game will either directly affect or be mentioned in the superb sequel, which has ironed out all the bad things mentioned earlier.
