This is for people to discuss the final decision of maintaining the Collector's Base for the Illusive Man. I'm curious as to why you made your decision beyond a simple yes or no. This is an open discussion not only about the decision itself, but possible ramifications of said decision.

I'll start it out. I chose to blow it up. At first it was to prevent Cerberus from using it for their own agenda, the only thing I wish I could have done was keep if for Citadel scientists to study. However, I was very, very skeptical of myself in making a decision that I believe was based on pure disdain for Cerberus. However, I now have two strong keys to why I made my final decision (both occurred after having made the decision). When fleeing the base one can see it is under the control of the Reaper Harbringer, this means if left intact the Reapers could reconnect and control the Base once again. The other reason is because the Illusive Man did want to use it for his own purposes to "benefit in the fight against the Reapers.......and beyond." He also mentioned how this would make humans the dominant force in the Galaxy, now I'm all for humans, but I'm not about to sell my soul so they can kill off the other races after the Reapers are gone.

That pretty much sums up why I did what I did. I won't make any predictions about what I believe my decision entails, I'll leave that to be brought up elsewhere : P.

So keep it friendly, have some fun, and most importantly DISCUSS!!!!!!!!!!!

Edit: Figured I would add a poll choice for the Martin Sheen haters as well.

I kept it, but I'm sort of afraid of what will happen in ME3.

FYI: Harbinger was controlling the base through the Collector General, so I don't think he can control the base anymore.

Yeah I feel you. I'm just saying there is the possibility and I didn't wanna chance it. But it is a good point.

I blew that base up. No way I'm going to let anyone use tech that dangerous. I'm worried Cerberus would try to do something stupid like, oh I don't know, rebuild the damn Reaper and use it against the other Reapers. Scientists tend to do stupid things in video games. If they tried to bring back an ancient destructive race of bug people in the first game, what's to stop them from doing something equally stupid I the third. Plus I needed to avenge the death of Samara and most of the Normandy crew.

Of course Renegade Shepard is going too save the ship. I just wish I didn't have to give it to Cerberus. The Alliance should get it.....or the Geth just for kicks.

No. I trust Cerberus as far as I can throw Grunt.
As the station was blowing up, I had to slide and catch Grunt before he dropped off the ledge...how the hell can a human catch a krogan with one arm?

I do believe that situation is made possible only through "vidyagame logic." Or the fact that the animation had to be the same, regardless of the party member who fell.

Just throwing things out ;)

I couldn't nuke that base fast enough. Everybody thought the Reaper IFF was harmless up until the crew got Collected, and I'm supposed to trust an entire space station full of the same tech? No way.

Besides, I think my Shepard wanted to make sure the Reapers understood that there's nothing they can build that she can't blow the fuck up.

She did? Drat. I kind of wish I'd had her with me now--I took Garrus and Grunt for the last fight. Good thing I'm replaying.

Where's the "I blew the place up just to spite Martin Sheen" option?

Yea, i went through with Mordin (I think thats how you spell the professer's name) and Miranda, i went through with mordin because A. his fire power helped out SO much with the Human Reaper that i was done in like 10 minutes and B. ... i was going for no one dying (Not for hte achievement, because i went through hell with these guys, im not having any die on me now. and Miranda helped out a lot with warp when the drones showed up. but anyway she transmited a message form the illusive man and i told him to "Fuck off, this tech needs to go" he turned to Miranda and ordered him to stop me (which i am going to take a stab at it and she shoots you in the back of the head)but she told him "no, and i quit btw) and cut him off.

and if anyone needs tips on no one gets left behind achievement, pm me and ill guide you through it.

Pretty much the entire ending sequence, as with most video games, is only possible through video game logic. Nobody should be able to escape from the heart of a crumbling base when a single piece of debris can kill you. Hell they shouldn't have even been able to make it that far.

Of course that doesn't stop it from looking awesome.

I kept it for study. I have two characters, the first is a pro human renegade dickhead and the second is a bit nicer, and she'll blow up the base. I'm planning on saving both characters for the whole trilogy.

I blew it up out of sheer hatred for Cerberus. They spend 2 years remaking me(shepard) but didn't give me cool eyes like Illusive Man. HOW DARE THEY!!

Yes, that is the exact reason. I do not possess the ability to lie.

I decided to destroy it because of how manipulative the reapers are. Reapers are a mix of organic and synthetic, so can you be sure that all reaper was completely removed from the ship? Can you be sure their isn't something like the Conduit in it, which will allow reapers to spy on Cerberus; the one organisation doing something to fight them? I'm not willing to take many chances with reapers, which have consistently managed to destroy all advanced organic life every 50 000 years for the past 37 000 000 years. Humans didn't even exist 37 million years ago. On the other hand, if anyone can take enough caution, it's the Illusive Man, who I think is awesome. I like his style. I REALLY liked the smile he gave as Cerberus ships moved in on the Collector Base.

The same logic dictates that not blowing up the station and geting tech to help destroy the Reapers and save the galaxy in ME 3 gives you renagade points.

I spared it. If it is a trap, I have no qualms about going in there and destroying it again. For a while there, I was wondering if the Illusive Man is a Reaper spy...that smile was very suspicious at the end cutscenes.
