Agreed. Liara looked amazing in LotSB. Her redesign was great. Still remained single in 1, though.

I found the white outfit they gave her in LotSB was a really good choice, white suits Liara very well. In ME1 I always put her in white armour because it looked so good against her blue skin.

Strangely, the first thing I thought when I saw her outfit was labcoat. Like, "I'm a scientist and a badass, deal with it *****." But maybe that was just me....

Nah, they can't possibly fill Miranda's spot with Ashley. She doesn't have any of the abilities that made Miranda so useful. The ability to do both Overload and Warp made Miranda a must-have for every mission for me.

Isn't Miranda technically a Sentinel? So in terms of gameplay, she was actually filling Kaiden's spot. But yeah, she definitely came with me most of the time for the Overload/Warp abilities.

I second that emotion. WTF happened to her? She looks like the girls standing at my street corner in clear heels. Actually, and I hate to ruin for all the horny teenagers saying "OMFG SO HAWT!!" but she really looks like a man. That cannot seriously be the redesign.

Part of what made Ashley interesting was she looked and spoke like you just might meet "Gunny Williams" at the bar outside base. The way she had her hair tied back and a pretty but not made up face sold her character as a warrior first. She wasn't providing fanservice; she was a badass grunt who had no Y chromosome. She was Mass Effect's Samus, well, pre Other M Samus.

Miranda was designed after a fashion model and was written like a generic Hollywood action girl; obligatory soft side, blahblahblah. It made her seem boring by contrast. For example, hearing Ashley talk about her father and quoting Tennyson was a genuine surprise. Miranda never uttered a single line where I was like, 'Hey, this character is intriguingly written.'

I hope Ashley's fashionista style doesn't accompany a derailment of the character into "Miranda 2.0."

As for Kaiden, I hope they toughened up his character a little. I always felt that for a marine officer, he was Mr. Touchy-Feely-Emotional. We already have woobie characters like Liara, Tali, to an extent Garrus and Thane, etc. Kaiden should come across more like -Lt- Alenko and less like Mr. Lifetime Movie.

I saved Ashley and let Kaidan for dead right for those very reasons, I didn't romance Ashley as I'm not fond of the way he was always contradicting Shepard. So, I saved her just for sheer pragmatism, as both chars aren't particularly friendly (though Ashley is still interesting to hear) I took the darwinian way, survival of the fittest. Even though I considered saving Kaidan to see what could happen I decided he wasn't worth it in comparison to the spartan girl with the attitude. Hope Bioware gives Kaidan some balls and Ashley a little bit of gratitude towards Shepard (She should, knowing that the guy plans to obliterate the most advanced sentient beings in the galaxy in order to save some meatbags).

Also, she looks worse. Why the implants and the giganto-lips? She seems to have some problen with her eyes, they generat that sleepy Paris Hilton expression. Copy Valve/Ubi on this, you know... like in ME1, an spacefaring Alyx Vance/Jade is just perfect.

Ashley is an actual strong woman, and as such, most likely intimidates the soft and pudgy portion (i.e. majority) of the nerd population. Oh, and she has a religion. Dat r make er evul and stoopid hurr durr.

OT: I really really don't like what they've done with her. She looks like she put on four pounds of makeup and is ready for a night patrolling the streets looking for someone to give her some cash for a "good time." I think she looked so much better in the first game, and I'm frankly quite angry with Bioware that they turned the one character that felt real into a skank.
