Well i romanced Ashley and Tali so i'm gona be interested to see were this goes. alternatively if both characters hate me i could just try to bromance garrus, we have been through a lot together.
also did anyone notice how huch more bad ass kaiden got since the original (I mean i killed him in the first game, so it doesn't affect me)

Part of what made Ashley interesting was she looked and spoke like you just might meet "Gunny Williams" at the bar outside base. The way she had her hair tied back and a pretty but not made up face sold her character as a warrior first. She wasn't providing fanservice; she was a badass grunt who had no Y chromosome. She was Mass Effect's Samus, well, pre Other M Samus.
Miranda was designed after a fashion model and was written like a generic Hollywood action girl; obligatory soft side, blahblahblah. It made her seem boring by contrast. For example, hearing Ashley talk about her father and quoting Tennyson was a genuine surprise. Miranda never uttered a single line where I was like, 'Hey, this character is intriguingly written.'
I hope Ashley's fashionista style doesn't accompany a derailment of the character into "Miranda 2.0."
As for Kaiden, I hope they toughened up his character a little. I always felt that for a marine officer, he was Mr. Touchy-Feely-Emotional. We already have woobie characters like Liara, Tali, to an extent Garrus and Thane, etc. Kaiden should come across more like -Lt- Alenko and less like Mr. Lifetime Movie.

My thoughts exactly, that being said yes I romanced her the first time round but left her for Tali as soon as I heard everyone's favorite Quarian* was a romance option. Still gonna stay true to Tali even if she's not a teammate.Some_Jackass said:

I've always liked Ashley and this is kind of an improvement, her face is a bit weird but it not too much of a difference. (her long hair changes her appearance more than a lot of people think.) And i don't want to be shallow but i like her new body. People forget that breast size in mass effect 1 was standardized for the base female model. Not every woman on the planet is a b cup. Ashley's new rack isn't that big anyway, she's got nothing on Miranda or Isabela from DA2. So overall i approve. She looks good.

I remember it took me 2 goes through Mass Effect 1 to actually get Ash to open up the dialogue tree.
The first few conversations you always get suggest a hint of "racism" (Specism is a more accurate term). They're also pretty bland soldier talk conversations.
If you can get Ash to talk more however, she DOES expand on what she actually thinks, her reasons and actually gets some interesting dialogue.
It was just tricky to get her to open up. At least in my experience. That kinda made her more interesting then Liara in some ways.
So between Horizon and Shepard's trial, she left the Alliance, got breast implants, and became a prostitute?
...I can't remember what I did back in ME1, but I hope I saved Kaiden. I do not want to look at this new Ashley in any cutscenes. It's not really even what I said above that bothers me; that face doesn't even look like a normal human face. It looks like the Uncanny Valley opened a brothel.
Ah well. They can't screw up Tali and Liara right? I always liked them better anyway. Okay, they can probably screw up Liara, but Tali should be safe. They can't really draw eye shadow and lipstick on a helmet visor, and breast implants for Quarians sounds like a really bad idea considering their immune system problems.
EDIT: Wow, so people think Tali is into genocide, huh? Someone care to tell me when the definitions of self defense and genocide got switched around? Because last time I checked, "I should probably kill these robot bastards that I personally had no hand in creating who took over my home world and also try to kill me or any other quarians wherever we go before they kill me" is self defense, not genocide.
Now don't get me wrong. Legion is cool and so are any of his friends that don't want to put a bullet in Shepard. But if any other geth want to try and put a bullet in Shepard, Tali, or anyone else in the game, fuck 'em. They deserve the ass whooping Shepard will provide.

I just want to have good 'ol Wrex back in my squad. Having him in ME2 would have made that game 10x better. And yeah, I killed Ashley both times I played through ME1 and I have no regrets. Still don't. I would have killed Miranda if keeping your whole squad alive wasn't such a big deal. Kaiden looks like a total badass, not that he used to. I remember that by the end of the game he was wearing some pink armor and he still pulled it off.
Also, I hope they changed the "tears" so they no longer looked like dried glue on their face.
Also also who in the fuck is James Sanders? Is he from the latest DLC? If so that would explain why I have no idea who he is.
